Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls...

How do I go on an adventure with Richard Stallman?
>>54735039
Go to his events and ask him.

If I am visiting an interesting city or region, I will probably want
to do a few hours of sightseeing in between the work. But don't try
to plan sightseeing for me without asking me first--I can only spare a
limited time for it, so I am selective about where to go. Please
don't assume I want to see something just because it is customary to
take visitors there. That place may be of no interest with me.

Play osu! and TF2
Support newest wacom drivers
What distrobution should I choose? I am fairly new to Linux but I have tried Lubuntu.

What is? You admitting you use inferior, non apple tech?
We are not all as basic as you faggot.
>>54734839
Too expensive & you can't flash your rom.
>>54734829
All the rich/techy people use apple stuff, as long as there is no direct ban on their products like Microsoft.
What is the added value of faster RAM?
If I upgrade my 3yo laptop with 1600MHz instead of 1333 MHz, will I notice a difference?
>>54734784
No, and your motherboard probably doesn't support the faster clock anyway
>>54734784
if you use iGPU, yes.
otherwise no
No, if you want a faster computer get an ssd
>2016
>Android still has nothing but shitty browsers

They're trying really hard.
Next thing they will include the phones with your favorite brand of cereal because they are fucking worthless
Windows phone is 100% dead. Microsoft just fired their last employees in Finland.

mr stallman doesn't like my all powerful arch linux ?
>>54734618
GNU has a very aggressive policy about no non-free software being allowed. All of these operating system are technically FOSS, but since they have some proprietary software or don't promote themselves as 'GNU', they can't be GNU.
>>54734668
oh I see thank you mr anon. Have a great day :D !
>>54734618
>switch to parabola repos
>replace linux with linux-libre
>remove proprietary software
There you go OP.
How does /g/ feel about the mini-pc scene? Are they worth it?
I've been wanting to connect a TV to some sort of mini system with a full OS and I'm wondering what I should go with. Intel NUC is interesting but pricey
>>54734616
Overpriced piece of shits, you can do the same with any old laptop with HDMI output, or even with Raspberry Pi.
>>54734633
>Raspberry Pi
Is something I've looked but not quite powerful enough I don't think. I don't demand a great deal of power out of it but I'd like to emulate wii games.
You're paying a price premium for the smaller size. Just get a regular sized computer and stick it behind your TV
Or old laptop
Why do people use this?
Is it worth learning?
>>54734584
For statistical analysis
>Is it worth learning?
Not for someone who doesn't see the value or uses of it.
>>54734595
So it sucks?
>>54734584
Had to learn it for a university module. Stay very, very far away from it if you don't want to go into statistics
How do you code buttons to the preview windows in Windows taskbar?
>>54734552

Use C
Okay, I have a little project for work purposes:
I have a camera, which detects movements and makes heatmaps of the area it sees. This camera can be accessed via ethernet and provides configuration per browser.
Now I want that camera to be on the internet.
I am thinking of using a raspberry for that with an UMTS modul which then connects to the camera (PoE).
If that's working I should be able to SSH into the rbp and access the camera right?
Sounds fine. The Pi is great for networked low-demand computing.
>>54734546
If it can be accessed via ethernet, just plug it into your router and portforward it.
>>54734559
Thats the thing, it is required to be just plugged into a power source and wort without a connection to a router. That's why I want to put the umts module on the rbp.
>Microsoft has 100 billion in the bank

The race is over.

Explosive kek.
I spilled water into my chassis and it crashed. I thought blowing a fan on it for an hour would be long enough to get all the water out and I tried to turn it back on like a moron. The computer won't turn back on but my GPU still lights up How fucked am I in terms of broken components? I've already ordered a new mobo because I read online that water damage almost always kills the mobo.
Cyкa блят!
U should have never turned ur pc on and should have dumped a fuckton of rice onto the motherboard and waited
>>54734370
>How fucked am I in terms of broken components?
Get some red LEDs, they are exothermic contrary to the blue ones that are endothermic. The warmth of the red LEDs will evaporate the water quickly and if you're lucky everything will work fine again. Also, remove any blue LEDs that are in your PC right now
I'm buying the Phanteks cooler.
How can I replace the fans so the white shell is black?
