Is there any point in putting your github profile on your résumé? I sent out 10 job applications, got 8 rejections and 2 interviews. Only 1 view on the earliest of my github projects. None on my newer ones, which I made to showcase my abilities - a portfolio.
>>54750329
What are the projects? If you hadn't written them, would you still want to look at them?
>>54750436
Some android & ios apps, the positions were android & ios development positions.

Dumb frogposter.
What's a good LML?
Specifically good for taking notes in classes?

Right now I'm using vim with a ton of plug-ins. It's pretty nice, but I might move to something else soon
What's wrong with using markdown?
>>54750291
Vim+pandoc markdown+autocmd
Works fine, if I ever have to take classes again maybe I'll write a stupid mini webapp that does this live instant rendering thingy
Can we use some calculation to show the most objectively beautiful woman?
Yes, it's called your brain.
Your brain does calculations on the visual inputs it receives and applies ratings to the beauty of women.
Objective? Objective to you.

Technology that makes you laugh
All worthwhile language features had been introduced by Lisp in the 1950s and any language released afterwards was obsolete at arrival.
Prove me wrong.

was reading a few articles on python v lisp
helped me out with a few ideas but can't remember what they were now (happens with programming) .. consensus is that most lisp programmers get a lot out of python
I like python because I encountered prolog & found it akin
https://www.quora.com/What-do-Lisp-programmers-think-of-Python
>>54750083
helps to read critical programming comparisons eg:
"I took a couple of AI programming classes some time ago, they were taught in Lisp. They were most enjoyable classes, and Lisp had a lot to do with that. A couple of years later I tried to take a followup class. This used to be taught in Lisp also. The instructor had changed, the GTA was gone, and the language had been replaced with Java. It was ugly, every bit of it. I dropped the class. Another year, another institution, again tried to take a followup...

"Basically, Python can be seen as a dialect of Lisp with “traditional” syntax … Python supports all of Lisp’s essential features except macros, and you don’t miss macros all that much because it does have eval, and operator overloading, and regular expression parsing, so some — but not all — of the use cases for macros are covered." http://www.johndcook.com/blog/2012/05/03/python-as-a-lisp-dialect/
Should I get a github account?
>It is full of SJW that call themselves "core developers" because they replace "he" by "it" in comments and open "issues" about terminology.
>Potential employers will find it when they will google my name so they'll know I'm not just memeing my resume
who are you quoting?
>>54750072
Use github until there are problems. I myself never had SJW issues, but that's because I just made meme-minecraft mods (kek). But if your project grows in popularity you might attract hair-dyed dykes

You have to be 18 to use 4chan
Archers, settle this. Which is the superior AUR package manager, yaourt or pacaur? I prefer yaourt myself, but the general consensus seems to be pacaur.
Why not pacman?
>>54750021
it's not an arch user repo AUR, so it doesn't have the user made packages in the same way
>>54750021
Pacman doesn't natively support the AUR, nor will it ever. That's why the AUR managers exist.

Python, Gnu, Tux, Java Hamster and the million O'Reilly covers.
What's up with that?
Cs people love memes and nature.
Why does "Learning Python" have a picture of a rat on it? They fucking gave you the animal for free.

What NAS does /g/ use?
I'm looking for a machine that lets me mount SSDs and install my own operating system, like for example FreeNAS or a full-blown Debian. Any recommendations?
>>54749933
A 4-drive synology one, I forget the model.
Does 10GigE.
>>54749933
>I'm looking for a machine that lets me mount SSDs and install my own operating system
Build your own mini ITX case or something
>>54750351
I already have senpai.
But it was so cute I'm using it as my main now.
Is it finally time for 4chan's Mac Mini cluster to be replaced?
>>54749929
please tell me this is bullshit

it's not. 4chan runs on mac minis

So I'm considering giving Gentoo another try. I'm running Ubuntu on my memepad right now because I couldn't be bothered to mess around setting anything else up, but now I've got some time on my hands to satisfy my curiosity.
How much messing about is it to get it into a state where it's usable day to day? mate, mpv, video codecs, audio, libreoffice. That's about all I use, off the top of my head.
Will I be dicking around getting audio working for hours like it's 2005?
bamp
its a meme
is it tho?
Font thread
What font do you use?
>>54749790
There is only one font that matters
"Helvetica"
Sometimes I'll use "Courier New" for technical stuff and brainstorming outlines
I use "Times New Roman" when people complain too much about font as it tends to shut them up, or I import what ever font they want to make them leave me alone.
For fun I will sometimes use "Impact" in bold for titles and things, but not that often.
Gelly where ever i can, Roboto where I can't

I manage cables because I don't want it looking like a cluster fuck.
i always skip luke videos
hes so dull and probably the biggest reason why girls suddenly like computers
>>54749763
I think Cable management might have made more of a difference back when everyone had one exhaust and one intake with the shitty stock coolers
