Hey gae bois,
Not new to 4chan but new to r/mu.
What is the general consensus on this band? I saw them in a concert at a little bar in Texas, pretty quiet bunch but super nice as far as people go.
The drummer had to take a dump immediately after the show and I also had to pee really badly. While I was in there this drunk guy talked to the drummer through the stall the entire time he was trying to take a crap. The drummer was super nice about it though and carried on an entire conversation with this dude all while on the shitter.
this is literally right and true
Here's a classic:
Does anyone else not care very much about lyrics or am I just autistic?
I appreciate good lyrics when I can, but usually I am not really listening to the lyrics so much as the instrumentation and overall sound.
Lots of bands have stupid/nonsensical lyrics anyway.
the music depends on lyrics as much as the band wants.
My Bloody Valentine's lyrics are washed away in the sound, and serve as a part of the aesthetic.
Sun Kil Moon without lyrics would be instrumental acoustic played in a coffee shop.
Though it would be a good idea. They were some pretty funny ones in there.
And why is it Pacific 202?
>Diaper commercial comes on
>Shows parents chasing around a naked baby with a diaper
>This starts playing
Name a single song that has been more overused in advertising that isnt Should I Stay or Should I Go

How does /mu/ feel about the music of Gong?
I just recently obtained the last album (You) in the Radio Gnome trilogy and I'm really loving it so far! Angel's Egg was nice, but this one is on a totally different level.
I think its crazy that he was in soft machine and when wyatt left soft machine, the parallel happened with allen leaving gong. Both bands went straight fusion and gave up most of their pop sound. Also check out electrique camembert, its great pre gong stuff.
Why are people so obsessed with this guy here?
He's released one decent mixtape and one solid album. But overall he's not that great. I mean he's a pretty good singer, but there are plenty of really vocally talented R&B singers out right now (dvsn, Miguel, Gallant, shit even Chris Brown is a fantastic singer), so why is Frank Ocean the one who gets all the attention?
Why are people so hyped for this album that no one knows anything about? It's not gonna live up to expectations, it's gonna be another alternative R&B album.

He actually is a great pop writer unlike a lot of vocally exceptional singers. between nostalgia and channel orange was a huge leap musically. Songs like lost, pink matter or monks have minimal instruments and top notch production that manages not to date it to the cloud rap of 2012. His lyrics address real concepts but are still surreal and not just forced politics. Im not even a big frank stan but you're smoking rocks if you think he's at the same level as miguel or chris brown.
channel orange was a sincere r&b album. thats stand the rest of time.
rest of those guys just make ear candy r&b that gets old after the 2nd-3rd listen
Why doesn't this get the recognition it deserves?
Production wise it's one of the greatest, most interesting albums I've ever heard.
I honestly think it's the best DG record
Because people who got into dg from fantano
and the money store don't really get it.
Notm outdoes it instrumentally and has more presence from stefan.
Also its really rooted in electronic sounds like jungle, wonky and bass music. DG gets labeled hip hop constantly so thats bound to drive down its popularity.
>play album on spotify
>it plays songs from every album in the artists discography except the album you selected
