You failed the first test.
1) Listen to it as if nobody even knows what it is (ignore the hype)
2) After your confused reaction occurs, wait about 3 months and try it again.
3)I tried that and it clicked for me.
The first two tracks will be more enjoyable if this isn't your first look at experimental music like that. Miss Fortune is pretty accessible, however, but don't force it and don't get upset if you don't like it the first time around.
Hello friends, this is a thread for experimental music discussion. To clarify: Noise, drone, electroacoustic, free improvisation, futurism, indeterminacy, musique concrete, sound collage, and all that good stuff.
What have you been listening to? What have you been making? Movie and literature recommendations, concert experiences, gear, etc. are all welcome
whats the best experimental album

What is some "happy" jazz?
Like, upbeat jazz for the summer and feeling good, but not super cheesy. Preferably with no vocals.
>pic for attention
>>65494245
Ahmad Jamal Trio's The Awakening is prolly something you'd like
Pic related has quite a few vocals, but imo they make the songs even more fun
>>65494310
This too
Melt Yourself Down's self-titled album was gr8
Even though Vaporwave is kind of a joke genre, I feel like it has an "accidental stroke of genius" feel to it at times.
Like, when they slowed down that Diana Ross song and put it along with Windows 95 imagery, somehow it all "clicked" perfectly, creating a feeling of childhood nostalgia along with a strange feeling of being in a neon Japanese mall and drowning in their mall fountain. This is despite the fact that diana's song was recorded before Win95 even came out. And despite the fact that the song, when it was recordedat its "normal"...

Also, I don't know if I told you yet but I listened to the first volume of the Hugo Masters comps. Very good stuff. Will do the other volumes sometime soon.

Have you heard this? I think it's good because Shankar does a very brief explanation of some concepts of Indian music.
