wanting to talk and influencing directly the youth, with songs talking about recognizing his family, city, pursuit of happiness/meaning of life and puberty/virginity
comercyally it has/is a success platinum 1 mi + copies sold
critically it did do what the white writers wanted cause Cole didnot fitted on their "real hip hop" formula (wu tang, nas, biggie, mf doom)
