I was told /mu/ hated the needle drop, aka Anthony fantano, and I wanna know if that's true, if so... Why? I've seen many of his vids, and though I may not always agree with him, I never found anything to really hate.

The best argument(among all the non-arguments I see) is that he has the taste of the average /mu/ poster, so there isn't that much to gain from him. I'd disagree, considering that all you see in /mu/ is shitposting the same albums and really short descriptions as to why people like or hate an album.
I guess one thing that must really annoy people is how he uses synesthetic terms to describe sound (AKA "dreamy creamy neosoul").
If someone knows any better internet critics, maybe talk about them?

Most are saying the new track "Frankie Sinatra" is electro-swing just because it has trumpets, tubas, jazz inspiration and 1940s entertainment samples. J Dillas album Donuts also has trumpets on "Gobstopper" and "Glazed", jazz influence throughout the entire album and 1940s entertainment in tracks like "Lightworks". Is Donuts electro-swing too now just because it has some brass instruments? Madvilliany has clarinets and trumpets in it too along with hip hop; is it electro-swing too? Except Donuts and Madvillainy don't sound at all like Electro-Swing. Listen to any Electro-Swing once and you'll realize why Frankie Sinatra IS Electro-Swing.

this state of arrested development is saddening, because it really does seem like something with a lot of potential
even the female artists in the genre make the same shit as the male ones, there's no genuine female voices in the whole thing, no voices which work truly approach the thing from a female perspective
that's quite sad when you take into account how proudly hyper-masculine and sexist/outright misogynistic so much of noise is
for an aspiring female noise artist to play by the same rules without trying to subvert or deconstruct them feels like a betrayal in a way
