My predictions
Kanye West - SWISH: [9.3]
Radiohead - LP9: [9.4]
AnCo - Painting With: [9.0]
Drake - Views from the 6: [8.8]
Frank Ocean - Boys Don't Cry: [9.7]
James Blake - Radio Silence: [8.6]
Bon Iver - TBA: [9.0]
yea those are the only albums you should be looking forward to this year, predict pitchfork scores
the black men will prevail
Painting With is gonna get some pretentious score that shows they are "more precise" in their ratings, like a 9.1 or 9.3
Stop talking about pitchfork.
itt: the best scenario to listen to an album in
>lying in bed in the morning after your girlfriend just broke up with you last night because your crippling depression ruined the relationship
>hanging out with your best friends the entire summer before college
>knowing you're all going to different colleges
>falling in love with your crush your senior year and losing your virginity together
>having to say bye to her the month before you move
I swear none of this has happened to me

Has drug use enhance you songwriting skills in anyway? What are your experiences with drugs and your music?
The one time I tried to write a song while tripping was fucking awful. I couldn't even play a chord right.
Weed hasn't helped me with creativity either, if anything it blocks it.
i recommend to fool with loops when you're smoking weed https://vomitheat666.bandcamp.com/album/r-m-x-r

songwriting? no.
arranging and production? yes.
>maybe love is just an economy based on resource scarcity
damn...
>Oh, and love is just an institution based on human frailty
>Now, in just one year's time
>I've become jealous, rail-thin
>Prone to paranoia when I'm stoned
>If this isn't true love, someone oughta put me in a home
>Say, do you wanna get married
>And put an end to our endless progressive tendency to scorn
Do you think we will hear anything new tomorrow?

the bar for music is at an all time low. new fans will be easily impressed, so that will be cool. but old fans already have OKC, Kid A, etc. they aren't worried about impressing them anymore.
Let's talk Tom Waits. The only album of his I ever see mentioned around here is pic related, which seems to be well-regarded. Yet he has close to 20 albums to his name, most of which are never mentioned.
What do you guys think of Rain Dogs and his other music? I've recently been digging Real Gone.
I don't think he's made an album that's not at least good
I've always been particularly fond of Alice
He's good but a little overhyped. No Waits album after Swordfishtrombones has really had a sound that surprised me.
Mule Variations is pretty great, my 3rd favorite after the classic duo of SFT and Rain Dogs. I'd say it's his most underrated album
oh hey. Bottomless Pit is coming out in April

The point of these threads, is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to, and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.
We track our progress using calendars, which we fill with the albums we listen to on each day and a rating of some sort for all of them. There are...
