What is your favourite genre invented in the UK?
Metal? Punk? Shoegaze? Britpop? Madchester? Jungle? Drum & Bass? Trip hop? Prog-rock? Dubstep? UK Garage?
punk has 3 distinct starting points to choose from, none of which happened in the uk
>>52968438
1 - Sex Pistols
2 - Malcolm McLaren
3 - ?
>>52968444
both of whom readily admit they took their lead from new york
Ausfags of /mu/, what do you think of Triple J?
Personally I think it's the cancer that's killing Australian music and making it shit and sound all the same
>>52968382
>the cancer that's killing Australian music and making it shit and sound all the same
nah, thats Australians.

/thread
you're correct about everything
Triple J is cancer and so is its fanbase. I really hope Taylor Swift is number 1 on the 100 this year just to piss those cunts off.
>>52968400
Same.
I never vote in the Hottest 100, but my top 10 was pretty much all Taylor Swift, Death Grips and Swans just to piss off those smug bastards.

Best of 2015 so far?
>>52950088
that and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - A Year With 13 Moons
>>52950088
I've listened to it a couple times now, but I still haven't gotten into it. It seems so dense.
>>52950208
This was...alright.
My favorite so far is Edward Ka-Spel - The Victoria Dimension
I really enjoy the new Noveller and the new Sleater-Kinney as well.
>>52950303
listening to the new sleater kinney for the 3rd time right now. the instrumentation is pretty cool but the lyrics and song structures are so generic
Post your music fetishes, get reccs
>Intricate drumming in an indie rock/pop song
>11/8 time signature
>Vocals being used more like an instrument (Like Battles)
>Horns being used in non-jazzy music
>>52954859

Dustbowl Ballads
Arguably the most important folk and compilation album ever released.
Can we talk about this?
It's tied with Tetsuo & Youth as my current HHAOTY and really AOTY in general, not that it has a ton of competition (yet).
I wasn't expecting a whole lot after hearing 1999 but it's actually really, really good. He spits fire, the production is nice (it's like a blend of the 90s aesthetic but with more modern sounds) and he's lyrical too, "conscious" like Kendrick.
I seriously think Joey could be the next big thing if critics are good to him.
I didn't care for either of those albums.
this is wayyy better than both combined
He already is the next big thing. This new wave of rappers like Flatbush, Underachievers, A$AP mob and Pro Era are what's in right now. They give the kids who think Migos and Chief Keef are stupid something to listen to.

Yung Simmie fell off so hard, get out.
Hey /mu/ I need some chill Japanese music.
>>pic related
None of that super upbeat pop or Rock shit. It's not that I don't appreciate them, it's just that I have too many.

I dont play video games; but the music on this album is just so atmospheric and beautiful. Bursting with melody and an essence of jungle.
