I feel like it's been a weird year with so many underwhelming, highly-anticipated heavy-hitters back-to-back that have taken up so much attention online (Drake, Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye, James Blake, Radiohead, et al.)
Feel like it might've caused some great albums to become eclipsed?

I feel like this is exactly what the world needs:
Dream Theater is getting a digital board game based off of their latest album The Astonishing.
It's in development right now and will be available soon for iOS and Android
as a free download with additional content available as in-app purchases.

radiohead's album was fine
the james blake album wasn't underwhelming
i just listened to the new keiji haino album and it was ok. new jason crummer is my AOTY so far
I just cant do it /mu/. I fucking give up, how the fuck do you guys do it? No matter how hard I try I cant bring myself to listen to full albums. Seriously, I even took a list of supposedly "perfect" albums and gave up after 2 because they were honestly horrible (like only 1 or 2 decent songs). Its extremely time consuming and not rewarding imo.
Like I've fucking tried to listen to more radiohead but I cant bear to listen to a full song of them thats not creep.
is there hope for me? whats the secret here?

What music do you like
>>65477795
You need a new hobby. I suggest buying color accurate monitors, a good printer, and stare at photos all day long.
Or just watch anime and play vidya like every single faggot out there.
Is folk-punk the best music genre?
It's literally the worst
I'm not /pol/ but when your entire genre is straight white males whining about how they hate straight white males its fucking CRINGE

No, it's tropical house.

OTC: Pretty much universally shit on upon release in 1972, now recognized as a classic, precursor to half the clattery electronic music made in the mid-1990s, a proto-No Wave stroke of perverse genius, subject of an entire boxed set, etc, etc, etc.

There were a lot of jazz albums that critics were lukewarm or critical about that are now viewed as some of the greatest of all time
NWA Straight Outta Compton
Placed #6 in the Pazz & Jop poll in 1989. So, pretty sure it doesn't qualify here.
As for On The Corner, Christgau gave it a B+ (way lower than it deserved, but not exactly loathing, either), and Lester Bangs put it on his Top 10 albums of the decade list when the '70s ended. (tied for first place, with The Clash and Raw Power.) Of course, it had been out a few years by then. And maybe jazz critics (and other rock critics) did loathe it when it came out -- I'd be interested in reading some examples of such reviews,...

In 1967 when the Beatles released Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the critical and public acclaim was such that the band needed an armed police guard for six months, and in a tearful review on BBC1's flagship arts show Aquarius, Malcolm Muggeridge declared that the album had made all previous music "irrelevant", and that the ouevre of Mozart was "some old bollocks" in comparison. And yet today, the record is probably the single most detested element in the Beatles' discography, leading one Pitchfork reviewer to describe it as "pitiful...

Let's have a Styx thread. I never see them mentioned here. Are they an underrated classic rock band? Soft rock pop drivel? They definitely have some good songs, Man in the Wilderness and Castle Walls off of pic related are on par with a lot of stuff that Boston, Kansas, and other similar bands did. They have their share of crap too (looking at you, Babe). So yeah, discuss!
The worst, lowest, most abysmal dadrock of all, up there with Journey and U2. It can never possibly be worse. Just Dennis DeYoung's voice alone is enough to drive people to insanity, alcoholism, suicide...
C'mon, U2 may have fallen off hard, but Achtung Baby is phenomenal
When will they get the recognition they deserve?
Really makes you think huh
>heaven sounds like dadrock
I should start living a healthier lifestyle.
>>65477497
>not being vegan
what are you even doing lad?
>>65477536
Being vegan might be somewhat healthier but it's not miracle cure for everything. I mean Morrissey has cancer for instance.
Also I can't give up meat. It tastes way too good.
So what's coming out soon that /mu/'s excited about?
>>65477374
that one
Avalanches - Wildflower
New Vampire Weekend
New St. Vincent
New Swans
Might be it. I'm finding a good amount of stuff I didn't know was coming out though so that's cool.
>>65477374

Hated Korn growing up same with Slipknot, I enjoy them now for nostalgia more than anything though. Early Korn isnt bad. Personally I liked Jonathan's brothers band better. pic related

Friend of mine swears by Scale The Summit. Really technically sound bassist. Never got into them much, but I didn't know that they were on Audiotree. I really dig those performances, I'll have to check it out. Never heard of Powder! but...
