Is electronic a genre?
>>53436172
But Scaruffi literally is a random blogger and Fantano literally is a /mu/tant with a camera.
theres no such thing as a "genre"
You can consider "electronic" to be a very, very broad genre, but it's better to consider it as an umbrella term. Electronic genres include techno, house, breakbeat and many others, more or less debatable (IDM is sometimes disputed; trip hop and synthpop may or may not be considered electronic, etc).
Only use "electronic" when you really can't classify a particular album (it happens).
And never, ever use "electronica" unless you want to troll.

Found a bunch of Annie ones, will commence dump.
this years still prepubescent but I think some of what has come out so far, ep, lp or otherwise has been stellar.
my personal favorite,
lxury - into the everywhere
>soulful/emotional house
can't think of any other artist right now other than disclosure who he is affiliated with who is making this type of experimental melodic house. trap is dead as fuck for sure.

You fuckhead. It's Deep House/UK Garage

>implying how I labeled it is the de facto genre.
classify it however the fuck you want, i never really liked house and i've only aquired the taste through lxury and a few other artists relative to him, over the last year or two.
what stood out to me in his music was how melodic and textured it was, christ.
What are your thoughts on songs in odd time signatures?
Also, dump your favorites.
What thoughts would we have other than "Cool?"
Come on, there's no productive discussion from this.

It it just a gimmick for making a song unique and usual? Does it have a place in mainstream music outside of experimental stuff? Does it work universally in every genre?
There's plenty to discus.

Third for battlefield 3
Why is music from California so terrible? It's the largest state in the Union and I can't think of any decent musician or band to come from there other than maybe Joanna Newsom and early Beach Boys. It's a state that celebrates the worst aspects of American culture and allows itself to be run by former action movie stars. Can't we just give it back to Mexico?

STOP THESE THREADS; YOU ARE KILLING /MU/
ITT: eras and fads in music you're glad to see are long-gone.
I'm glad that the nu-rave/indie rock-dance punk fads have died. Shit like Hadouken, Does It Offend You Yeah, Shitdisco and all the other bands like them were insufferable.
The reverb revival of 2010 was the worst
I'll be glad when the last few crunkcore bands are gone
I don't think there's ever been a time when good music wasn't being made. Every musical era is vital to the whole of music that we have today.

i need to listen to more prog. my uncles used to play in a prog group and one of them was purportedly a drummer on the same level as bruford. he doesn't play anymore tho. not even sure if he still listens to music.
Post a picture that could potentially be an album cover and guess the genre
Last one was pretty good

you're right dude, that is a fantastic album cover. I think math rock perhaps, not emo mathrock, think breadwinner type, no lyrics just fast guitar and drums.
