Jesus H. Christ this is an uneventful, boring album. I mean, for background music while playing videogames, yeah, it's alright, but there's a ton of better stuff out there for that purpose. Namely, just about anything with guitars in it. The video for "Frontier Psychiatrist" is entertaining, though, even if the song isn't. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, or really used to guitar-driven music, but I just can't get into this group. This shit is way overrated.

Guys...there is so much good music out there these days. It's overwhelming. It's going to take years and years to listen to it all.
I've already listened to 200 albums this year, but I already have a list of another 200 albums I wanna listen to and it just keeps growing and growing thanks to /mu/ suggestions and RYM.
It's fucking shameful how little we hear on the radio. I'm disgusted that it took this long to find all of this music when it's been under my nose the whole time just because radio gots to keep its 3 minute, 3 chorus, guitar solo shit running 24/7.

What does an okay playlist look like?
I'm trying to compile a large library of chill (shoegaze, indie folk, chillstep, etc) music, but every time I show the playlist/library to music enthusiasts I keep getting laughed at. I include essentials and get called a pleb. If I just include lesser known musicians of a genre, I'll get called a pleb for not including 'essentials' . It's like no matter how many artists I include I can never get anyway to agree that I have some taste in music.

I've loved pretty much every album this band has released up until the end of the 80s, but haven't ventured into their output from the 90s and this century (which is pretty daunting, since they've released an album pretty much every year). Do they get worse at any point?

They got spottier after the 80s(especially in the mid-90s when Smith was wasted 24/7 and seemingly had no idea what direction to take the band in anymore) but some of their best work was released throughout the last couple of decades.
Levitate, The Real New Fall LP, Your Future Our Clutter, The Infotainment Scan and Imperial Wax Solvent are up there with my favorite 80s Fall releases.
