Worst album is probably 808's and heartbreak, but even then its still a decent album. Just his weakest.

This guy is one of those guys who never gets out of his comfort zone. He might sometimes but it always has to be negative for him from the start and ruins it for everyone else. And it's the same with him for music, he will not like anything that is not experimental (using that word lightly) 808s is a great album and better than Kanye's other work.
I was originally exposed to them years ago through their song Piss Up A Rope off their country album, but just recently started digging into the rest of their shit. They're a very diverse band from what I've been listening to and I was curious to see what /mu/ thought of them.

i want to know who /mu/ believes are true geniuses musically who arent typically thought to be geniuses and why. i think rivers cuomo WAS a genius during the blue/pinkerton years, but then was overcome with other opinions and began to make commercial shit, but thank god he started to come back to his senses in 2014.

I listened to it twice and hated it. Then I listened to Pena randomly and it was a dadaist masterpiece.
When I realized it was derivative of Varese, Cage, and Stockhausen it lost its appeal.

off topic: I respect people who enjoy listening to Merzbow and other harsh noise artists. But here are doubts: I once read a post from someone saying he enjoyed listening to Merzbow because it's very relaxing since it's music without message, theme etc. So if most people who enjoy listening to Merzbow it's because they find it very relaxing, how do you make a difference between a weak Merzbow album and a good one? If you enjoy his music, then you should love all of his albums equally. So how come on RYM i.e. all of his albums have different rates?
Or does Merzbow have a distinctive path and evolution like other artists? What is your favorite album from Merzbow and why is it better than other releases?
Seriously, i'm not writting this as baite, i simply wish to have a normal conversation regarding Merzbow. Excuse my ignorance, it's obvious that i never listened to a Merzbow album all the way through, i don't know what kind of mood i have to be in order to do it.
