So, it's been exactly a year since the man died now. He deserves more appreciation around here, and he deserves more appreciation outside of here.

He was a musician with a kind of versatility that is quite unique and definitely remarkable, and with an output of consistent quality.

Because his shit is great through and through, pick any track, any of it - beyond the masterpiece that is Sakura! haha
He delved into house, techno, breakbeat, trance, ambient, "IDM", post-rockish stuff, jazzy shit here and there and just did it all like a master.

He apparently died without his family knowing he was a talented musician, and I guess family means relatives, if he was single.
Which in that case is kinda, yeah, you know.

But he is of course far from unknown, so there should be another bastard or two in here who has something to say about him, whether positive or negative, he deserves a little recognition and why not pick his death day as a symbolically appropriate choice lol.

At least some tunes should be posted, because the words are honestly superfluous imo.

I could go on yeah but I can just say he's worth listening to and your loss if you don't.

nice

Is that Mellon Collie in a single album jewel case? I'm not really into that. Great album though. There's a lot of great albums there actually, good work.

Yeah, I just got back from seeing them live with August Burns Red (whom I don't personally care for) and they killed it.

That it is. And thank you, senpai.

hey guys this is my first time posting on /mu/ so you'll have to forgive me if i don't follow the rules... i just bought pic related (thomann TR500 s) and i wanted to know if there are any trumpet players on 4chan. how hard it is to get started? i have some basic music knowledge (played piano when i was a kid), i know i'm not going to play like chet baker since the first day but how long will it take me to play some basic stuff along a guitar? should i stop smoking cigs? and can u guys give me some trumpet jazz? i only know the classics (davis, armstrong, clifford brown etc)

also brass general thread i guess

Get lessons or you'll fuck up your mouth and embrochure. Also your mouth and jaw structure may not be suited for trumpet.

Tmpt is hard.

make sure you know your chromatic scale well

as >>63607215 said get lessons and shit

also practice a lot to get a good stamina. that's the most important thing. it'll be a bit trickier keeping a good stamina if you smoke maybe, but maybe you can still get a good one if you play all of the time. playing in any sort of band (big band so you have to play loud) helps.
>>
If you know have basic music knowledge, learning trumpet will be 90% technique for you.
I'd also advise geting lessons, at least when you're just beginning, to build on proper basic techinques.

Not much else to it.

Nah, most of the songs are mainstream rock and the ones that aren't are just friends of the developers.
There aren't a lot of downright terrible songs, though.

ep c / b ep can be considered their first album

Alright /mu/ novice level producer here. Give me your best mixing tips. Also I rarely hardpan guitars and bass in my music and usually put drums and vocals in the middle. Am I doing this way wrong? Does panning really even matter if you fuck it up considering good bands still sound good in mono or stereo? Why is where is my mind a good song even though the recording/mix quality is utter crap?

How the fuck did Butch Vig gate the drums on Nevermind. Like, what were his ratio settings ect. Those drums sound like fucking cannons.
>>
>>63606616
I watched a video on this! First off Dave Grohl was playing on an insanely large Tama kit, forgot the name but you can see it in the Smells like teen spirit video. Second off Dave hit the drums with the heavy end of the stick instead of the tip.
>>
>>63606616
>>63606771
don't forget adam kasper (brought in by dgc to do additional mix after vig mixed it) triggered samples onto most of dave's playing. not that dave ever needed it for consistency (in utero proves that).

as far OP...

there are a few general guidelines/principles to mixing properly which are readily available if you google them. beyond that...there is no right or wrong. if it sounds good to you, that's all that matters. just remember to leave enough headroom for the mastering engineer.

the latest ipod (nano 7 iirc? i'm not an applefag so) is pretty sturdy given the amount of times i've dropped it on the bus floor going home shitfaced. i like that it doesn't have that irritating wheel the older models had, like in your picture.
