Incredibly boring bands with awful fanbases bread? I'll pick bad religion and I cringe when I see adults at shows wearing their shirts. I've never gotten the hype either with them, they're fucking boring as far as punk goes and their poppy punk stuff isn't as catchy as other pop punk. Their music is awful

I’m always a bit suspicious whenever someone tells me that music has “changed” their life. More often than not, the exact opposite is true. No matter how good, the music in question hasn’t changed a thing at all, but merely affirmed some deeply ingrained, more pleasing vision of the listener’s identity. Many friends, for instance, claimed that they were immediately transformed upon hearing Bon Iver’s 2008 album, For Emma, Forever Ago, but I still can’t notice — three years later — any noticeable difference (if anything, they all just seem a little bit hairier). No, if music is going to change your life, it’s more likely to happen through an album that is disagreeable or even slightly disappointing, the one you really don’t want to play again. Simply put, if your musical hero is moving in a new direction, and not simply getting worse, that’s when you need to stop talking about yourself and pay attention.

Ridiculous caveman type music for when you want to shut your brain off and listening to intense blasting sections wtih semi-tech / melodic riffs that then suddenly shift gears into a sick fucking breakdown where you lose your shit 1000 times
It's fun when you're in the mood for it.
Emmure is one of the top 5 most ridiculous bands for their wigger nu-metal influence, spoken word sections and tons and tons of obliviously ignorant breakdowns. I cannot take them seriously but they are fantastic.
Personally my faves are the Sumericancore bands just because they up the math/tech/outer space/keyboard noodling and the breakdowns are absolutely fucking punishing in contrast - especially when you've got the djenty tones/tunings. Pretty much djent with more balls.
