What's the best way to get my hands on the Beatles CDs? 2009 stereo seems to be the best version, but individual albums sell for $8/each. Would I be better off trying to buy a stereo box set off someone? I don't really care about anything other than the albums themselves.
Get mono or everything that was originally mono, stereo for everything that was originally stereo. The stereo mix of Revolver is awful, legit one of the worst mixes on a major release I've heard. Everything before The White Album was originally mono, everything after (and including) The White Album was originally in stereo.
Don't buy the older CD mixes. The stereo panning on Rubber Soul and Revolver is inexcusably awkward.

What are some justifications for this being the best jazz album of all time?
What do you believe to be the best jazz album of all time and how would you justify that claim?
As much as I love this album, it's not my shit. I honestly prefer My Favorite Things, or Mingus Ah Um, or The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. This album is the imagined jazz sound. Low chill out music that you drink coffee too.
My personal favorite jazz album is probably My Favorite Things. It just sold well because it did a new thing at the best time for jazz. It's just really commercial.

My personal favorite is pic related, based on the harmonic bliss that is Evans' playing, the atmosphere of the record that makes you feel as if your in a smokey 50s jazz cafe, and the dynamic interaction between the players, but I can't deny the charm of Kind of Blue.

so i'm just getting into aphex twin as of late, and i'm curious of something- syro appears to be his best reviewed album besides selected ambient 1. was this just the result of hype or do fans genuinely think of it as one of his best? it seems like a lot of comeback albums as of late have been overrated by review outlets imo. i'm curious to see what /mu/ has to say, as i've only listened to syro, cheetah, and drukqs so far (drukqs being my favorite of the bunch)
