It's the most organic, effortless thing I've heard to come out of prog, and yet it sounds absolutely intense and beautiful. The title track achieves so much without sounding like it's trying to be important, and the second half follows it up brilliantly. Instead of going for the "epic closing track," they take a more subtle and natural approach, and the overall effect makes the whole thing just feel so fleeting and sublime. It really is one of the finest albums ever recorded, and I definitely don't think prog has ever reached such heights as Close to the Edge.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who was deeply saddened by this after that thread, feel really bad for the guy since he obviously has mental health issues (which are seemingly getting worse) and he is now getting thrown out of his flat in about 6 weeks.
