We discuss the meaning of John Cage's 4:33.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JTEFKFiXSx4
wasn't the proposed meaning that the ambience and chance sounds of the space became the piece? an awareness sort of thing?
cage himself loved traffic sounds, he was trying to tune the audience into the musical qualities of their environment?
>>65214930
That's pretty much it. Next. It's not like it's hard to find meaning in this.
>>65214930
To my understanding, he believed that music represented a chaotic universe. By creating a piece of silence, he could represent his perceived ordered universe; a view he adopted from Zen Buddhism.

Why isn't rock music as popular as it was before? even in the 90's rock music was still very popular but now it's more of an underground thing.
Lack of white hegemony in the media. It's a good thing.
Rap
Rock stopped being rebellious since the kids of the 90s had parents who already loved rock. That's why people listen to rap now.

Can someone explain EDM/electronic music to me? I'm genuinely trying to find redeeming factors and I can't. I want to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it's just so hollow, vapid, and ersatz. Look, I like getting fucked out of my mind and seeing a show too, but it seems like that's all it is.
do you like to dance?
>>65214357
Yeah, but funk or something of the like. Can it be enjoyed outside of something to dance to?
Does a sadder album exist?
>>65214275
This is a sweet /mu/ album but it gets tiring quick. after just a few months i don't ever listen to it anymore. I'm not surprised a lot of people here don't like it.
I still think it's fantastic though, Kettering, Sylvia, Two, Epilogue are all fantastic songs.
>>65214309
It is definitely amazing, but something about just wears off. I mean, I still like it, but I'm not craving to listen to it again and again.

Guys have some recommendation for sad/feels albums? I'm in the mood for some depression

being really objective here...
Greenwood is just essential, and probably the most important member of the band. The well recognized sound that originated in In Rainbows was purely because of him. It was his clean guitar riffs and progressions, and dynamic yet gentle percussion in tracks that really gave a true meaning to the songs and helped to morph radiohead's new sound. York's work within radiohead is notable as well, but it's nit as defining or significant as Greenwood's.
da fuck is this?
What are some good dubstep albums I can torrent?
there are none
>dubstep
>albums
lololo
Digital Mystikz - Return to Space (2010) is okay. City Limits Volumes 1 (2009) & 2 (2011) are also okay.
The new Thrice album is some quality post-hardcore if you're into that.
Listening to it right now for the first time, Hurricane is pretty fuckin good
>>65214069
I love it. Been a Thrice fan for 6 years now. Not as "original" as their other stuff but it is so well put together that it doesn't even matter.
Black Honey and The Window are my faves.
Oh shit, didn't know this was out. I didn't care for the single at all, hopefully the other songs are better.
what's your favorite song right now (not all time)?
optional:
what do you like about it?
