Fine, I'll go to Reddit then.

Can someone please explain to me how heavy metal is based off of Classical Music
A lot of metal heads get off on how "complex" the music is and pretend to like classical music to seem extra smart.
As heavy metal became more established, bands began to experiment with moving away from blues-based structure and progression, moving into establishing complex polyphony in the interplay between melody, harmony and sub-harmony. This was exemplified by bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. In some instances these bands were even termed "neoclassical" due to their focus on late medieval chord structures and progressions.
One of the most defining features of modern heavy metal is quite possibly the use of arpeggio. Arpeggios are scales woven together and...

That's cool. Damn right. My mom got me into Steely Dan. If any of my albums were missing I'd always find them by my Mom's stereo.

royal scam is playing on my turntable right now, probably top 5 all time for me
saw them in Montreal a few years ago and their second set was just Aja in full, one of the best shows I've ever seen
Just got this. Gonna listen to it later. What am I in for?
Just listen to the first and last tracks, rest are disappointing.
Be prepared to be disappointed after the first track then to eventually come to like the rest of the album more than the first track.
