ITT: GOAT EPs

I'd hold it higher than Loveless in the shoegaze genre.
tremulant.

>>61842729

link please
I don't get it. Someone please explain to me the appeal of shoegaze, dreampop, noise, and all these other genres of music that just have layers upon layers of shit on top of the actual music. I feel like I'm missing something because I just don't like it.
>>61842648
seconding that
to me the appeal is that it's dreamy and sensual while also being a bit abrasive. the two work well together imo,
the guitar sounds are fucking amazingly crafted.
Cuz it's not shit it's different sounds put on top of each other to create a wall of sound? That way there's auite a bit to digest at once due to how much is going on, making the music interesting and the atmosphere that develops as a result/the lyrics contribute to the emotional aspect.
You tend to usually have music that either has a lot of musical nuances to make the songwriting itself interesting while kinda not being that emotional (most progressive rock, certain pieces of art music). There also tends to be music brimming with emotion but tends to...

holy shit this album is better than anything The Beatles ever did
>>61842486
Yes, it is.
>>61842486
kill yourself
the beatles aren't known for being especially good they're just revolutionary figures in music you can't really compare anyone nowadays to them because they changed music forever, i doubt skylarking will change anything
So, was he actually the greatest music artist of all times?
(y)no(es)
>>61842387
nope
>>61842387
No. People will argue that his lack of an instrument brings down his standing as a musician, but how he beatboxed every aspect of his tracks, and his amazing voice put him in a very unique class. His dancing and his stage presence is also unparalelled, definitely a contender for the greatest entertainer.
I want to get into Opera but have no idea where to start, can any operafags help me out?
>>61842346
The "old" Opera brought some innovations, but was really overrated by its fanboys. Newer versions are just Chromium with custom skin.
>>61842402
1/10 made me reply
Verdi: La Traviata, Aida, Rigoletto
Puccini: Madama Butterfly, Tosca
Beethoven: Fidelio
Mozart: Die Zauberflote
those are pleb-tier and should help you get into opera. after that you can search for other operas by those composers and move to other shit like wagner.
also keep in mind what kind of experience do you prefer, watching a staged/filmed performance or just listen to the music. personally, i cant listen to opera without seeing the performance (except for wagner), so I rather but a DVD or go watch it live than sit listening to it for hours
Why does it sound like Frank is having sex with Kim near the end of Tame?
>>61842345
I don't know. Also I know Kim was married but I wonder if or what the closest they were to having to sex was. Like did they ever drink after a show and have a great conversation and hold eye contact too long until it got awkward? Tame's a pretty good song by the way
>tfw you'll never get to have sex with prime Kim.
>>61842345
>>61842917
i doubt so. i mean Kim was a cutie while Frank was a bald fat fuck

Stopped watching there.
"When Smile came out, the entire summer was different. I could hear it ringing throughout every home and shop in town. Children danced to it, housewives cleaned to it, the teenagers raved about it. Even those pop fans who hadn't accepted the psychedelic transition jumped on Smile. I didn't meet a person who hated it, nor did I meet a person who downplayed its quality. Everyone was united in loving this record. In a way, Brian Wilson gave middle class America their own contained Summer of Love. It put a grin on everyone's face. Everyone who listened to it...

Do you agree with Stereogum writer Chris DeVille that Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar are "two of America’s greatest black artists"?
>>61842174
Yes
Also pls no bully Stereogum, they are the best music website
>>61842208
>they are the best music website
they are completely pr-driven and are shells of a people who target a specific demographic with their writing. i don't know how you could possibly support a "publication" so obviously pandering to trends and pr label cash.
>>61842241
not defending stereogum, but are there any music sites that aren't completely PR-driven?
