Do you like Oingo Boingo?
I just listened to this for the first time and, I hate it when people use this expression, but, it is literally either the worst or best thing I've ever heard. If they did everything on purpose, then it's a haunting masterpiece, but if this was a genuine attempt at making good 60's pop music, then it's god awful. So did they purposefully make outsider music or no?
short answer: no
long answer: they probably didn't realize what would become of their music and whether it would be celebrated ironically or unironically. As for me, I enjoy it semi-unironically and semi-ironically

Wait, is this something Cartoon Network actually put out? That's pretty amazing, OtGW was a fantastic show.

Yeah, it's a press kit CN sent out to various people to spread the word about the show. It's pretty limited, apparently they only pressed a handful.

Ok so I'm never cared really much for Rock or guitar music in general (I've always been a huge IDM guy desu). Came across St. Vincent latest album and really digged the guitar. The fact that it wasn't really technically complex, but it had some real cool sounds and effects. So, can you recc me some other albums or artists with this cool sound experimentation or sonoric research? Thanks
Idm fag here. have you listened to Sonic Youth? they are one of the few guitar bands I give a shit about and they use guitars more as textures and noise

Really not was I looking for. I mean, listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAdARF4rGcQ
the guitar is pretty simple, but it has a really unique sound I dig a lot.

Already know this! Really brilliant album, I love it. But still, not what I was thinking about!
For classic rock bands, /mu/:
Loves:
>The Beatles
>Beach Boys
>Pink Floyd
Abhors:
>The Rolling Stones
>Led Zeppelin
>Queen
It seems to me that /mu/ has somehow collectively agreed on the idea that rock bands most focused on showmanship and live performance, especially with a frontman, are somehow inferior than bands which have albums and studio work as their definitive...

don't do this.
Don't assume everyone on /mu/ loves these bands.

Live shows are only worth anything if you're there watching them. None of these bands will ever do a live show again. The only thing we have from these guys are the albums. Why would we focus on their live shows if their live shows are over?
What is the saddest album you've ever listened to?
