im new to music, where do i go from here?
the gas chamber
You seem pretty pop oriented. I'd say Pet Sounds, Odessey and Oracle, Revolver, What's Going On, Who's Next, OK Computer.
keep the upper left and drag the rest of your music into the recycle bin
Easy enough right?
>>63870596
Shouldn't you start the thread with one?
If you think that any of these albums are good, you should get the fuck out of /mu/.
Why would anyone dislike Exuma?
Well, I'm not going anywhere, so we'll have to learn to get along
>>63870267
only one ive even heard of is clouddead
is it a good idea to talk about music on a first date?
Yes because I don't get triggered by and insult someone else's taste in real life situations.
i tried talking about van morrison and she said she loved the doors

if you're not a sperg about it then i don't see why not
Wow, /mu/-core that is actually pretty amazing

hey, what else by Moby should I listen to if I liked Play? particularly the first half
If Kanye made this people would act like it was the next step for hip-hop and not some shitty rock album.
truth.
absolutely. kid cudi could've released TLOP and it would've gotten the same reaction that SB2H did.
No, they wouldn't don't lie to me. There's nothing in this album that can strongly be justified by even the biggest fanboys. On top of that, Kanye's last album wasn't even received that well. People stopped talking about it after a week, not including the silly plans for changes/updates.
What are some other pop albums that are fun to play from cover to cover casually to kill time on guitar?
ITAOTS is the only one I can think of

Anything by Green Day

Oh shit you're right. What the best Green Day album to casually play? Is American Idiot viable?

You draw a face on the head of your penis and put a paper hat on it that you folded out of toilet paper and call it 'Sammy'.
anyone else really only listen to one band?
it's been a few years now, and sonic youth is all that interests me.
>>63869602
You have cancerous taste.
>>63869602
I constantly find myself listening to Tame Impala, I'm always finding new stuff to listen though but I feel like I could listen Lonerism a thousand times and I want to do it just as much as I want to discover some new favorite artists/bands and I end up depressed feeling like I don't have enough time because I have so much things to do aside from listening to music
MBV for me. Couldnt listen to any more rock music after being sonically baptized by deaf shoegaze jesus. Probably the reason why I turned into a hip hop head.
These are the claims against Led Zeppelin. Many people ignorantly say "they stole most of their songs" but that is simply not true. All you are doing is shilling someone else's agenda.
>"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You"
Zeppelin did nothing wrong here, they covered Joan Baez' version which had no writing credit at all so it was credited as Traditional. Unbeknownst to them it was actually written by Anne Bredon. Hint: the internet wasn't around in 1968
>"Black Mountain Side"
Uncredited and should have been credited to Jansch. No issue with this claim.
>"Bring It On Home"
The intro section was intended as a tribute rather than trying to pass it off as their own work, given that it was almost the same as the original. However it should have been credited.
>"Communication Breakdown"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Skx5qP65r2g [Embed]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoqQnR8NOVI [Embed]
There is similarity, probably an influence but there's no way you credit it to Cochran. Music doesn't exist in a vacuum.
>"Custard Pie"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t59S92GpTc&nohtml5=False [Embed]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyI7QAnaVQQ [Embed]
I'm really not sure where Custard Pie comes from that. It's quite ludicrous really and shows the true intentions of the people who come up with this drivel.
>"Dazed And Confused"
Probably the worst of the claims, no issue with this either. Obviously taken from Holmes.
>"Hats Off To (Roy) Harper"
So now we have Custard Pie and Hats Off To (Roy) Harper, two imaginably different songs from one blues song (Shake 'Em On Down linked above) that sounds nothing like either. Ridiculous.
>"In My Time Of Dying"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77lTCWRTy8g&nohtml5=False [Embed]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZgblTKscX0 [Embed]
This is Bob Dylan's version. Obviously it sounds exactly like Led Zeppelin's version!! More importantly he also credited it to traditional but of course only Zeppelin stole it!!
1/2
2/2
>"The Lemon Song"
A slowed down version of Killing Floor definitely. No issue here.
>"Moby Dick"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4EyM5r1iRI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRJ9_yHiNmg
Moby Dick right here folks. Such absolute drivel.
>"Nobody's Fault But Mine"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_o4omd8T5c
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6nCdlyuJ6g
Once again we see how much the Led Zeppelin "version" sounded exactly nothing like the "original".
>"Stairway To Heaven"
A similar chord progression for the opening lick, such plagiarism!!
>"White Summer"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYABfZ7HMhM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb_bTymOAyk
This one really does sound like Jimmy's version, almost identical. No issue with this claim.
So there we have it, precisely 4 Led Zeppelin songs (2 of which were instrumental guitar pieces) were genuine rip offs out of 100+.
>>63869566
The Stairway one is unarguable, Spirit were just trying to get media hype
It's a shit song though.
but then again, most of these claims (even the valid ones) come from the same pricks who claim "black people were the REAL inventors of punk rock" then just shove Death in your face
>>63869717
Spirit were robbed, it's so fucking obvious.

Also square with pitch modulation as well as fm with pitch modulation
ITT: musical fetishes
>slide guitar
>jazzy yet powerful drumming
>lead guitar plays catchy high melody while rhythm guitar plays something with heavy distortion behind it
>weird samples from TV shows and shit between songs
>songs with dynamic variance; really heavy sections and really spacey/warm sections in the same song
When a singer's voice is really fucked up from touring but they're still trying
ambient sounding hip hop
>Tool's bass tone
my weakness, I've always liked how well it stands out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yNAABKD4IA
Are the Fleet Foxes actually good or are they just another overrated indie band?
Never actually listened to them and I recently remembered lots of music sites said good shit about them.
Opinions on them?
Yeah they are lit
Try Ragged Wood and Mykonos
They're good.
>>63869255
Lots of people have the preconception that they're just basic overhyped indie but they're pretty unique
Much closer to Crosby/Stills/Nash than anything from the 2000s. And absolutely amazing vocal harmonies
Literally Pet Sounds 2.0
Now that just sounds stupid
>>63869130
in that case my interest in this album is now gone... and I was about to download it too.
Not this again
