One of the most innovative and influential guitarists ever, but not actually a great song writer.
Your guys' thoughts?
>>63858947
Gilmour.
Guy can make that strat sing, his phrasing is impeccable but the guy's writing skills are pretty sub par. See AMLOR.
Of course...

They were both great guitarists and writers. Who would you say is much better?

Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings
So what if it was "influential"? It sounds like shit. It drones too long, is badly recorded and mixed, and doesn't explore.
Why do people always act patrician by listening to this over bands that would go on to refine, beautify and overall improve this sound such as Up-Tight and Shizuka? Why meet the cow rather than eat the steak?
who cares what you think
>>63858667
>Why meet the cow rather than eat the steak?
I'm vegetarian.
>LRD
>influential
they were a Velvet Underground rip-off band with a lot of distortion that no one even knew about until Julian Cope released Japrock Sampler in 2007

>song is from 2012
>"oh Anon this song is so old"
GOD DAMN IT I FUCKING HATE WHEN PEOPLE CALL SONGS OLD THAT HAVE BEEN OUT FOR LESS THAN 20 YEARS
>>63858433
calling songs old as if it's supposed to instantly mean it's a bad song is pretty shitty
yeah, the older the song is the more shit it is generally but art music is pretty ageless
>>63858433
who does this?
>>63859299
literally no one
post pics of masta killa pointing up
great thread
Rate this album I made.
It's called "Clever Girl" (huge Jurassic park fan at the time)
I made it in 2013, it's mostly jazz.
Enjoy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9INO6a3LkWw
>>63858235
Did you actually make this? I've been listening to this for years.
>>63858271
Have you?
>>63858282
Yeah lol, it's like math rock/instrumental emo type stuff. Favorite EP of 2013
Was 2012 the best year of this decade so far?
>>63858185
that or 2013
why?
>>63858185
It had some pretty good albums
this will be their magnum opus

White Privilege Rapists: The Album
>>63858171
>topping soundtracks for the blind
absolutely not.
Opinion is split almost perfectly evenly on The Seer and To Be Kind, and I see The Glowing Man making it a pretty close three-way divide. I'm not sure any artist has ever made such a perfect trilogy of records.
>>63858003
>>63857888
it was good until pic related was released and made any attempt at making better jazz futile
now it's a dead genre with an untoppable achievement everyone tries to copycat (but fails, because they're not half as talented as Kamasi is)
I'm not a jazz head, but I have a small rotation of stuff by Sonny Sharrock, Joe Henderson, Alice Coltrane, Chic Corea, Thelious Monk, etc. The only lyrics I enjoy are rap and singer songwriter so it's nice to have a genre more modern than classical that is all about the instruments. Too often is a good rock album spoiled for me by vocals.

Oh, and Tzadik Records is a gold mine.
