>>64551855
>All that art rock
(art) rock is dead. we are heading towards a very strange time in popular music
Art rock is the only subgenre of rock that has a chance of transcending generations.

Recommend albums we might not have heard before, preferably newer jazz artists (80s onwards?)

That's the most uninspring line up I've ever seen. And that's not only because it's Old White Men: The Festival.
If it's not too expensive I might.

didn't actually know there was a new Lack of Afro album, might have to check that out later
TLOP. Honestly idk that much underground shit and this is actually the only album I've listened to fully that came out this year.
I'm kind of bothered by the fact that it's a group of men circling a poor, tied up woman about to be murdered. Seems misogynistic to me.

I've listened to pic related (and really like it), plus I've also listened to (No Pussyfooting) by Fripp & Eno and liked that too (although a little less; I like The Heavenly Music Corporation a good deal more than Swastika Girls). What do I listen to next, /mu//? I've heard Laughing Stock by Talk Talk is good.

Thomorrow's Modern Boxes is better than The King of Limbs at least
Modern Alternative Rock has reached a level where it is no long music but just Orwellian drone music to mindless consumers. I have cited 3 out of the countless out there, and point out how I believe they are toxic songs and "Depression Food". (Not bothering with links.)
#3. The-Strumbellas: Spirits
The song has a folksy/spiritualist rhythm with that "canned live" sound making it feel as sterile as a band playing in a morgue. It's upbeat melody drastically conflicts with its lyrical content, describing what appears to be someone who's mentally...

Dude everybody here agrees with you, but your articulation and reasoning is more contrived and worn out than the music you're talking about.

Got some good music too, I often don't rag on too many acts, but these songs are just bottom of the barrel. The sad part is just how often the songs are played, and in stores, at work, at your aunts house. They are unavoidable catchy tunes, and every year it gets a little more shitty. So I'm just being that autoaging oldfag I guess.
Is poptimism a product of anti-rockists ignoring black genres and anything old and thinking all electronic music is EDM so thats all they have left for their contrarianism?
People liking pop music here are either faggots who actually like pop and don't belong, or shitposters
Needs to be purged off the fucking board, there are billions of places you can discuss pop music with other fucktards
Poptimism is just an excuse to commercialize and make more money. Pitchfork knew that there was no music to be made in reviewing music that is actually independent. So they primarily focus on pop music with feminist or anti racist messages, as an excuse to shield themselves from the criticism that they're classist and capitalist shills.
An "anti rockist" would disagree with all those things you posit they believe, as would be obvious if you knew what rockist meant
