anyone have a video of a musician explaining what their songwriting process is like? I consider myself a musician. I have been playing musical instruments my whole life on and off. I'm not really great at playing them, but my teacher tells me I have enough skill to be able to make my own stuff. What my problem is though, I always come up with like one riff or one arpeggio, but then I can never seem to be able to put together these fragments of a song together in my DAW. I don't use electronic instruments, all my instruments are guitar, bass and drums. I would really appreciate the advice, thanks.

This guy is so fucking impressive. I never thought he would top GkMC, and I don't think he has, yet he manages to reinvent himself with stuff like TPAB and UU. The lyrics, production and general wordflow/musicianship is better than everything else at this point.

So I'm new to this kind of music and this was amazing but is there any similar dance/disco/whatever the genre album that comes close to this ?
I tried Justice, LCD soundsystem, Crystal Castles, DJ Shadow but didn't like them. Also listened to some last.fm and rym recommendations but nothing was as good as this.

I hate Death Grips. I immediately lose respect for anyone who listens to them, and especially those who praise them. Here's why:
Name 20 successful people that listen to them. Pop basically runs the show when it comes to music. This includes artists like Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Zayn Malik, Adele, Katy Perry, Beyonce et al. Pop has artists making significant contributions to the entire music industry.
Death Grips on the other hand pulls most of the heavy weight packaging from teenage angst with each album. They then lay basic synths and a joke of a rapper over it. It generally lags behind pop by a mile or two in inventiveness. I never hear their music in shops or mentioned by anyone over the age of 25.
So tell me again, how exactly do Death Grips innovate? They even struggle to release a new theme with each release, and artwork is about the only original thing with Death Grips.
Yes, Death Grips is stable because they are standing on the shoulders of socially awkward teenagers. Most of the hard work is hashed out before they ever start making "music". This is fine, and what music is all about, but I prefer to be in with the leaders rather than the followers.
What really irks me and what has really brewed my hatred are Death Grips fans. They seem to think Death Grips is responsible for all that is good in the music world. I have just proven how false this is. In my experience, Death Grips fans (virgins, teenagers, and manchildren) are much less helpful than the alternative.
If you want nice pop, listen to Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift. If you like rock, Tame Impala. If you prefer, Drake or Kendrick Lamar. But please, don't feed the idiot magnet that is Death Grips!

Swans are a gateway band of the worst kind. They're a bad group. a clusterfuck of shitty lyrics and repetitive song structures that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive edginess and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the music itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The 20 minute songs all trying their hardest to sound deep, the pseudo dark themes, edgy lyrics, pompous song writing, the whole post-rock faggotry and everything about Swans fuels their escapist fantasies, while the 2deep4u albums, emphasis on revenge, SEX, GOD, RAPE etc. and overall preachiness of the band make it fit just right with the fedora tipping drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.
Swans is basically THE band to attract the most hated fanbase known to /mu/. which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this band and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Swans threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.
