I've been getting into synth-pop/industrial. I've been mostly listening to pic related, Violator, and New Order. Are there better synth pop albums out there? What are some of your favorite synth pop groups/albums?
This one is pretty good, it gets hate though because the band used to make doom metal

Listening to it now. Definitely getting that industrial/late Depeche Mode vibe from it. Not bad so far

From Blur to Gorillaz to his genius solo album, why is everything this man touches imbued with absolute genius?
>yfw gorillaz probably wouldn't be half as good without all the non-gorillaz artists contributing to it
Blur: are shite tho
>>60482806
They never said there would be no features, those have been a major part of the act since the beginning. They are simply dialing them back a bit, plastic beach had more features than tracks and it drowned out the Gorillaz part of it.
What does /mu/ think of Grouper?

Albums like this?
More in the way of the blending of acoustic instrumentation with warm, big percussion and those almost brassy synths.

Not necessarily House or Techno with IDM influences like Nicolar Jaar or whatever. I know they're in the same pigeonhole. Or someone dicking around with a sine wave like Aphex Twin.
Meant to post this:

And this is genuinely interesting whether you like the album or not, about the micro-photograpy used to make the album cover:

Stop looking for "Albums like this". They dont exist.

ITT discuss the first peice of music that "blew your mind" and exposed you to music in general. For me it was Kashmir by Led Zeppelin.

It strikes me as a bit skittish and unnecessary to rail on someone solely because of their first-ever /whooooahhhhh/ moment.
Regardless of how out-there or captivating a piece might or might not be, the experience itself is what is important, as it opens the door to actively discovering new music.
What kind of an online community could take pride in bashing one another when it comes to humble beginnings?
