I love those old swirled UV7s. See the occasional swirled RG7620 as well.
>>61946890
Yeah me too. My next project is swirled strat put together from a bunch of old parts I have. Should look something like this when it's done.
>>61946947
I'm more into the DayGlo approach now and doubt I'll swirl anything myself, but I can always appreciate it. Hopefully yours turns out looking awesome.
Is it more important to focus on songwriting/production abilities or skill/mastery of the instrument?
both are equal
where would you be with skillful mastery of instruments but no songs to play/shit production?
what about if you were great at writing songs and producing them but couldn't play for your life?
>>61946879
well wouldn't you have to be at least good enough to play your own songs?
>>61946851
technical abilities are really completely irrelevant these days
it's nice to think they matter because it gives a solid footing to judge 'progress' on, but it really doesn't matter one bit if you are not completely hopeless at plucking some notes on a geetar.
the only thing that matters is the song. most people listening to a song don't give a fuck about how skilled the instrument playing is as long as it sounds good.
you can have some simple thing played by someone...

I understand music in modes, I learned on the guitar. I always thought young thug, migos, future... You know, the cadenced rappers, reminded me of modal jazz soloists. They have a predictable chord change to follow and it's the soloists interaction rhythmically, melodically, and thematically with the backing musicians. That's thug and his producers. Thug also reminds of extremely masterful blues musicians. They grew up learning by ear, they never had any formal lessons. so while young thug's knowledge and accessibility to music theory is vast, his ability to conceptialize that is different than the formally trained musician. It's more connect with the self, it's sensed more than known, it's how true art is made. When knowledge and expression combine, or never were separate.
wow you know, I always figured there were people could be pretentious about the "actual musicality" of rap music but then you really hear some spewing shit like this and I was not prepared to hear it yet.

So when will the "le kanye west is le genius" meme die out?
As soon as people stop making threads like these, champ.
I don't think it is a meme, sadly.
When he dies cus he's the only one saying it.
The rap songs from this soundtrack are better than anything off To Pimp a Butterfly.

This game fucking sucks but the music is so nostalgic, brings me back to the fun in the sun good ol times of 2000-2005/6ish.
This soundtrack is fucking amazing...
>>61946141
I mean nostalgia only goes so far but the music like I linked is just legitimately good.
The soundtrack as a whole has duds though.
