What was the best album of 2015, and why was it The Church?
Not good. Just because it's more obscure than Carrie and lowel /=/ good. Placebo effect, lol.
that was 2014 tho
The church came out in 2014 dumbass

Who's your favorite trumpet player /mu/?
mine's gotta be Freddie Hוubbard. Just listen guys.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQlutcmNvlQ
>just listen guys
>implying anyone who calls themselves an actual music fan won't know who freddie hubbard is already...
excellent choice. i'd have to go with roy elridge or ted curson myself
int terms of more "modern" trumpeters, hargrove is def up there
>>61138621
I posted that link because it's really beautiful and not one of his most famous works so people might not know it.
I actually pretty much never listened to either roy erlidge or ted curson and that's pretty terrible by me. Definitely agree with Hargrove being one of the best right. Other modern trumpet players I really like are Avishai Cohen and Alex Sipiagin.

good album
Mom and sister just asked for new pairs of earbuds for xmas. To use during exercise.
They're not looking for expensive stuff, but I'm not looking to waste $20 on shit-quality either. Anyone have any recommendations for middle-road earbuds that will stay in during exercise?
>>61138392
It honestly doesn't get better than the apple earpod. They have bass which is probably good for working out and the quality is decent.
>earbuds
>not shit quality
>not expensive

...it is always dark...
tfw my hard drive got erased and now im stuck with spotify
So /mu/, what's the verdict?
For me, 8/10. Better than Y&G, about as good as Blue, not as good as Red. Still one of the best albums this year.
Didn't like it. I think red is a good record. Blue is okay. The rest I don't like.
>>61138339
1000 percent agreed.
Link?
This is the only good music critic out there.
i wish that Scaruffi rated food
Scaruffi > Fantano > Pitchfork

needledick and p4k are both fucking garbage so comparing them is pointless

Reminder that Hey Moon is a cover and John Maus did very little to make it his own other than sing it with his distinct voice. Not saying this is a bad thing, he's allowed to do covers, but Molly Nilsson gets almost no recognition for her songwriting whereas the song is hailed as almost a masterpiece for John, when in fact is almost identical to the Molly's original.
no this brings memories ;_;
>>61137903
Heres Molly's version for those who haven't heard it
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CZ594IL_wyw
Honestly not sure if it's as good as John's but I mean in general it sounds about identical
What are you experiences so far with foreign music ? Depending on your country
Do you listen to music that you can't understand ? (Let's avoid the kpop and derivees I don't want that in this thread)
>>61137815
For some reason I thought that pic was about the colour of his hat last time I saw it.
Anyway most Dutch music is utter shit so I like foreign music.
I'm American, listen to a ton of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese music (pop duh but also other stuff)
An Indian friend is helping me get more into some classical stuff from there at the moment and I'm really enjoying it so far
I don't care about the language of the lyrics, lyrics are mostly shit anyway. Japan is probably the non-western country I listen to the most, they have some damn good noise rock and post-rock
