What does /mu/ think of la dispute?? I fuckn love em wbu
If I do not miss a part of you, a part of me is dead.
Not much of a fan of the first album, but I love the last two.
I find Wildlife to be wayyy too sad and depressing to listen to though. I only go back on a few tracks due to how sad they are.
The third album I think lacks some of wildlife's quality but atleast I can listen to it without having an existential crisis.
I would imagine la dispute is working on a new album?

I've only listened to Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair. I wasnt a huge fan of it though.
The clean and sparse guitar arrangements feel thin and the distorted guitar parts need to have more thought going into the tone. The riffs that are supposed to have a groove to them really fall flat and would greatly be improved with some bass.
I'm not a big fan of the vocals either. It feels to me like it's stuck between screaming and singing and he just cant commit.
Can we please stop hating on the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

So today at work I tried to listen to Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly.
I thought it was fucking horrible, every song to me was a fucking CHORE to listen to, I felt myself getting angry at how fucking bad it was. I listen to a lot of genres hip hop probably being my favorite but this is just fucking garbage, do I just have a horrible taste in music or is the album actually bad?

Here's the thing about Freddie. The man had some serious pipes. He had a 4 octave range and he excelled in any octave. He wrote brilliant songs. And his stage presence was only matched by Adolf Hitler. Seriously, watch them play Radio Gaga at Live Aid and then watch a video of the Nuremburg rallies. We had better thank our lucky stars Freddie didn't go into politics or he would have taken over the world. But Queen as a whole had a brilliant dynamic. It wasn't just the Freddie Mercury backup band. They all made huge creative contributions to what made Queen what it is. Yes, Freddie wrore Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, and Bohemian Rhapsody, but Brian May wrote We Will Rock You, Save Me, and Fat Bottom Girls, John Deacon wrote I Want to Break Free, Another One Bites the Dust, and You're my Best Friend, and Roger Taylor wrote Radio Gaga and It's a Kind of Magic. Other bands like Nirvana for instance were not like that. Nirvana was basically just the Kurt Cobain backup band. Queen was this perfect storm of legendary talent, and Freddie was the face of it all, the delicious cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. He was the ambassador that allowed the amazing talent of combo that was Queen to be brought into our lives. He was the prism that focused the lazer beams from the brains of Roger, Brian, and John, and amplified them until they were powerful enough to blow our minds out through our ear holes. Yes, he was the most incredible front man who ever lived, hands down.
That Live Aid performance sure was something else.

I enjoy Queen. I don't enjoy the annoying "OMG BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY IS THE GREATEST SONG EVER WRITTEN" people though. And those kind of people will ruin bands and musicians for you.
Regardless though, they have some great fucking songs.
