What is /mu/'s opinion on Old school Goa Trance? Not Psytrance. Just Curious.
11 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Never really listened to it, I used to have a goa Dan EFX mix that was good.
>>
I like it I guess
I don't really know the difference between Goa and psy
I know that Goa is more 'organic' and psy is more untz untz
But idk if that makes any sense
>>
>>66057615
Makes sense friend. There is alot of crossover between the two but pre 1998-ish there was no Psytrance really.
A general way of looking at it might be: Goa is alot more focused on a carrying melody and lead that evolves over the course of the track whereas Psytrance is alot more focused on 'drops' and buildups to a big bassline.

Listen to Breadcrumb Trail

Listen to that part where its real quiet when all of a sudden the hyperdistorted guitar comes in "BWEW BWEE BWEW BWEEEEE WEERRRRR" and tell me tha whole segment isnt post-rock
>>
>>66057482
it builds and crescendos in a way that is unusual for most rock music, especially at the time it was made. the overall sound and feel might not sound like post rock, but the way the songs move and are structured is very important to the development of the genre

Mostly jangle pop, gothic rock and post-punk the lyrics and the sound seem very effeminate.

I have always endorsed jazz fusion and progressive rock from the 70', bands like Yes, Genesis, ELP, Return to Forever, Weather Report and Mahavishnu Orchestra has always been my go-to-music.

I am not fond of the repeatedly verse-chorus structure in songs. I would listen to anything that has invested its value in the music, but also something that conveys something emotional. The Musical Box by Genesis is a great example.

Help me find some modern bands with an unique sound, someone who doesn't care about their image, but rather what they produce.

>tfw friend bails on you to go to a show tonight but you already have a ticket so it'd be a waste of money not to go
I usually don't mind going to shows alone but I just get so bored because I'm too awkward to talk to anyone, what do I do?

do you have 2 tickets? in that case, invite whoever

if you only have yours, go and if you get bored you can just leave, though chances are people are going to be chill and the music nice if you like the artist
>>
>>66056774
yeah, I mean I do like the Hotelier so I think the music is gonna be okay, I only have one ticket though, and I dont really have any friends who would be open minded enough to go to a show with me
