When did you grow out of last.fm, scrobbling and all that dreck?
Last.fm used to be good for finding concerts before the update. Now it just recommends me shit festivals that have nothing to do with what I scrobble.

Chick Corea – Piano, right channel
Props to jtg for calling exactly who's in each channel. This is the first track off 1978's An Evening With Herbie Hancock & Chick Corea: In Concert, the recording being taken from their tour that year. I really enjoy their interplay here and their interpretation of the tune as well. At a time when they were both mainly doing electric stuff, it's pretty interesting to hear their acoustic interactions. It's a pretty good album, well worth checking out.

Off of Live at the Jazz Workshop. The shorter of two takes of this song, which is a Monk original, a contrafact of "Sweet Georgia Brown". I know I'm pushing ita bit with "standard" here, but to me it just sounds like a very esoteric version of Sweet Georgia Brown. I think the best thing about this track is how Monk sits out on Rouse's solo, to me it really serves as a snapshot of how Monk was playing at the time. I mean, to me, this track is like a Monk crash course with his minimalism and his quotes during his solo.

So this is one of the recordings with Dial when Bird was drunk off his ass on whiskey because he couldn't get heroin in California. You can even hear Howard McGhee yell "blow" at him at one point towards the start of his solo. Apparently Bird was angry this recording was even released. It's interesting people appreciated it so much on that basis, especially since some people thought McGee was Dizzy. I don't know, I guess I view this track as more of a novelty, but it's still pretty enjoyable.

Why does dad rock appeal so much to feminist art school chicks?

The next day they will come to school wearing a dad rock band T shirt...
It's like my painting of a female in a non sexual way is sexist and disgusting but you idolize dad rock bands that had lyrics that sexualised women way more than any painting I have ever done with trheir lyrics.
I personally think a lot of these art school feminist chicks just say and do things that they think make them sound edgy or different.
I don't think they put much actual thought into it.

I think it was because it was 5am and I've never had a girlfriend. Her voice was pretty relaxing, I guess. Or it was shit. I was just really lonely. I hate her songs now, I just want to find somebody like me but I've given up on modern women. I am horrified of losing my assets in marriage and I want a virgin like me. Her songs remind me of being lonely, and I used to like that when I circlejerked pity and wallowed in it with the rest of them, but I want to grow up now.

Djent was born around those years isn't it?
Brostep was invented, mainstream was heavily influenced by edm for a while, post 2014 people stopped giving a fuck about edm and everything returned to normal.
Apart from that everything has remained in status quo. There's so much music out there thanks to the internet that there is not one consistent musical act that has had a major effect, everyone sticks to their particular niche.
