Is there such a thing as a "natural born patrician" or does a superior taste in music only come via actively seeking the avant-garde.
There is both a nurture and nature part to patriciandom. But, with enough perseverance and motivation, one can reach a level of patrician.
via seeking imo unless ur parents blast avant garde hits on their player but i think what matters is the inborn quality in a person of whether they are curious by nature vs. not.

Pic related is Days of Future Passed (1967) by the Moody Blues. I discovered this disc only recently, but when I first listened to it I was blown away by its rich arrangements and complexity. I always thought that King Crimson's first album was the starting point of the prog rock, but after listening to this album from the Moody Blues I had to change my mind.
It was influential to the genre, but it wasn't the genre itself. Just in case.
Also, Gun's self titled had way more influence on Crimson's debut than Moody Blues.

Pink Floyd was the sum of it's parts. None of their solo albums are anywhere near as good as anything they did with Floyd.
