Right, been listening to a lot of dean blunt and his associated projects recently.
I'm not sure what any of this shit means. Is it all a joke? Is it meant to be purposively regressive to show how easy it is to make the sort of music they do (like black metal is an exercise in making white indie jangle pop)? Is it a commentary on race? Not even sure what the fuck 'Black is Beautiful' is meant to be.
Maybe there is no point, and that's the point.

I just don't know anymore. I've listened to the redeemer 4 times this week and I still don't understand.
Don't get me wrong, I think this album's really good. But why do people insist that it's so "out there"? There's literally nothing on this album that's going to be "OMG experimental" to anyone who's listened to The Flaming Lips.

I can deal with noisy music if I'm enjoying it, but this just doesn't sit right on my ears. It actually feels more painful to listen to than enjoyable. And I really want to like it too because it has an awesome name.
Then again when I first listened to The Downward Spiral I thought it was just noisy garbage and now it's one of my favorite albums. Maybe it'll click one day, who knows. But for now Animal Collective isn't on my radar.

what i'm not certain about is what exactly in the metadata is causing some album art to not show up, or if it's my fault at all even

Slash never said that. And no, I don't agree. This is a very shallow observation, and assumes the only thing of value in music is "my meaning" and "my lyrics" instead of melodies and musicality. Which I will gladly concede One Direction doesn't really have, but it's not so much about them as it is just being a bad argument.
