Anyone think Soulvaki is on par or even better than loveless as a shoegaze album? Let's hear it
as a shoegaze album, no
overall, yes
>>63262015
nope
Does /mu/ know any good music that has philosophical themes or that references philosophy?
get it quick before hipsters figure out metamodernism and it gets played out
https://craigculberton.bandcamp.com/album/book-of-the-damned
Milo was a philosophy student, and he referenced dudes like Kierkegaard and Shopenhauer a lot.
Albums that perfectly capture the atmosphere/vibe of a city?

Try Hank Williams- Greatest Hits

Why does so many weeaboos like Kendrick Lamar?
True weebs don't like nigger music though. niwaka otaku do.
Because he is obviously a massive week and uses vivid anime imagery in his music, surprised you can't see this

You aren't an expert on music until you've listened to more albums than Viper has produced in the last 10 years.
ITT:Sad albums
Post your very favorite albums that make you sad, they don't have to be conceptual or intentionally sad. Explain why if you want as well unless it's fucking obvious

logh is essentially just a latent gay fantasy about anti-imperialism / anti-colonialism
not as memorable as the fantastic approach to criticizing democracy found in code geass, imo

It's the reliance on old-school films
>UN DEUX TROIS MMMMM UH-UH
Hate aside, what's so good about this album ? I think that sound samples is kinda annoying.
>>63260568
I think it's kind of comfy
>>63260568
it sounds like me playing in the backyard as a child
You should have listened to Thought for Food first.
It's totally unique. If you're annoyed by the samples you're shit out of luck because that's just as big a part of their sound as the guitar and cello. They're very human, unscripted and raw. Like in the song Motherless Bastard. You can hear the humor in the dad's voice and the legitimately concerned tone of the little girl. It creates an atmosphere that is perfectly complemented by the song that follows.
The Lemon of Pink is awesome and just as good imo but going into TFF blindly...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
someone tried to tell me this is bad because it lacks "personality"
tell me /mu/, what are some albums that have "personality"?
>>63260255
every good album ever? i think what s/he meant was that the artist could've been anyone - it lacks integrity. one could argue whether that's true or not, or if it's even relevant beyond the view of the listener - but i suppose that's what s/he meant.
>>63260255
Maybe he meant that Rae could be replaced by any other singer and the results would be the same, that she's intransigent in her own releases.
that's how I feel about that album, at least.
The instrumentals are good, but she's kind of pointless as a singer.

This, I actually like that album but anyone could have recorded it, there's not much to Jepsen except for legs
All memes aside, which headphones do you guys use? I'm looking into buying a new pair.
Genre of music you listen to would also be helpful.
Still using a pair of HD 280 Pros that I got about 12 years ago when I was a live audio tech. Bassheads hate them for the flat response, but they're very very true, which was what I needed out of them when I bought them. I hate bass-biased headphones anyway, I like hearing what the mastering studio put there. If I want to change it, that's what EQ is for.
I listen to mostly rock, synthpop and jazz. Jazz in particular stands out in them to me because the separation is very good.
I'm currently using Philips Fidelio M1MKII. Decent headphones to go out with. Quite comfortable, doesn't allow much noise, too.
I mainly listen to Classical, vast majority being chamber pieces. About 70% is from 20th century. Hope this helps.
Had these for about a month now easily the best headphones I ever owned. Big natural sounding bass.
post covers, things you're working on, say hi, whatever
:3
this is something I was messing with last night
just really noisy junk and I wanted to sample Brand New's Jesus over it, the guitar melody at least from it. i think it sounds kind of neat
it pops in at about 40 seconds

Yeah, I improvised an acoustic guitar solo over a funk rock backing track on youtube that can be found if you search for "vito 107".
Here is me playing to it. There are a few mistakes but I hope you enjoy.
