>>

It's like a loose Lovecraft type of setting. Very dark aliens and shit are there.

so I've been trying to get into death grips for a while. I see the appeal of their music. lots of energy probably sounds great live etc. but I want to know why /mu/ LOVES them so much.

what exactly is it about death grips that's makes them your favorite artist? I feel like people either love them or don't care for it at all.

Because it's cool music for cool kids like me,
>>
they aren't by any means my favorite artist but I really like them for their unique beats and use of delay in ride's vocals

idk it just sounds cool as fuck
>>
In short, their music is abrasive, but catchy as fuck.

Their weirder songs are their best ones, though.

Noise is just nu-metal for pseudo-artfags, isn't it?
18 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Not really, even artfags have moved on from noise at this point.
The only types of artfags who still go to noise shows are the gross ones who smell like shit, dress like shit, down one beer can after another and probably have severe emotional issues.
Aside from that, noise gigs mostly attract pseudointellectual metalheads, pseudointellectual punks and people who show up in hopes of there being cheap/free alcohol at the show.
Noise in 2016 is 100% a subculture thing, not much different from metal or punk.

t. dude who used to get dragged to noise shows semi-regularly by other people
>>
>>66458831
Just realized you said PSEUDO-artfags, sorry.
If your definition of a pseudo-artfag bears any resemblance to mine then yeah, I'd say that you are correct.
Trashy "artistic"-college-dropout-slumming-it-on-daddy's-money-style artfag, yeah?
>>
>nu-metal for pseudo-artfags

in terms of emotional content or overall artistic merit?
you're not really wrong in either case thought desu

to admit to being a noise fan in this day and age is to admit to being extremely out of touch with the genuine contemporary avantgarde and admit to being in need of an artist image/persona to latch onto even in styles in which that sort of thing shouldn't really have a place
noise has ran out of things to say or do a long time ago. it's totally safe and empty at this point, just another market.

noise is like avant-garde music for kiddies pretty much

Can we talk about how great this album is?

Because it's pretty great.

Is it true you're no longer an immature child when you rate WYWH way higher than DSotM and The Wall? There's a sincerity and simplicity in WYWH that amazes me. No pyrotechnic bullshit, no Roger Water's muh deep concepts. Just straight bliss and raw feelings. What do you think?

>no Roger Water's muh deep concepts

Did you actually listen to the full album or do you just happen to completely gloss over Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar?

Also you're no longer an "immature child" when you start realizing their overlooked albums such as Meddle, Atom Heart Mother and Animals are the best.

show me where any of those things are in DSotM

No idea if this is a genuine genre or not but it's been bubbling under the surface of the EDM/juke/vaporwave/Soundcloud/Death Grips-like swamp for a while. I smell a big beat or breakbeat revival coming, but with a twist to it. You know, stuff like Machine Girl and Kaoss Edge and shit. Just discovered pic related yesterday. The album art implied that it'd be some kind of Mahmoud Awad piss-take "futuristic" music but I seriously liked it.

I saw Brian and his band earlier tonight playing Pet Sounds and few other gems. I was pretty close to the front which involved 3 hours of standing.

First the bad: Brian isnt doing as well as he used to. He had a hard time with lyrics, and often sang them off tempo or missed words completely
He also seems to have no emotional control over his facial expression. He looked the same way the entire hour: bored.Never laughed, hardly smiled. But his words were happy. He acknowledged the audience a few time.

The goods: His support band is incredible. Al, his son, Blondie chaplin, and about a dozen other people made these arrangements of pet sounds pretty good.

The set list included all of Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations plus other songs, like Wild Honey, Sail on Sailor, Babara Ann, Surfer Girl, Help Me Rhonda. It was painfully obvious when they started playing Wild Honey that most of the audience never heard it before.

I saw Brian Wilson at a grocery store in Chicago yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
