I recommend ['ramp] if you're looking for modern-ish Berlin school/dark ambient
I only listened to their first 2 so far, but iirc it's fro the same guys from Redshift and ARC, that are good modern BS groups too

That's a strange selection of 'real ambient' tho, Alio Die is not that different from what people call backpambient

Why do people say weed makes music better? I smoke it regularly and even while high as fuck it doesn't improve my listening experience, it just makes me distracted. Alcohol on the other hand has me enjoy music a lot more.

DXM and acid are the way to go for music. I prefer DXM because just listening to any kind of music has you feeling like you're flying through space. Just be careful with that shit though, it's very addicting and it'll fuck your liver up the ass.

Is rock a solved genre? Seems there hasn't been anything truly revolutionary since the 90s.

rock has been utter schmaltz since middle class white people sapped the life out of it in the mid-60s. You took this long to notice? seriously?
>>
>>61427325
Punk music was an infantile regression.

Discuss.
>>
>>61427325
More or less. Something like opera took a few hundred years to exhaust, but it happened.

Rock musicians for the most part don't have anywhere near the level of musical training or competence that opera composers had, so, they hit their limits more quickly.

It was all finished once "rap-rock" started developing in the late-90's. And then "bro rock" around the same time.

There are no real new revolutionary ideas within rock; merely rehashes of stuff that has already been done.

In other words, there is nothing being done in 2016 that would have sounded completely alien to someone in 2006. Imagine saying the same thing about 1967/1957; it's incomparable.
