>shoegaze
Don't worry you won't need to know anything about composition.
>>
>>65240836
I like shoegaze but this is true.

Does anyone have digital copies of the 33 1/3 books? Also, what are the best books in the series?
23 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
I'm sure the best in the series depends on what album you like. The ITAOTS book good be brilliant, but unless you like that album, you would find it chronically uninteresting

if you're still there I can re-up the archive, if the archived threads don't have it - have you consulted rebeccablacktech yet?
>>
>>65241974
i've seen it in the archive.
the author of the 33 1/3 book on Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Vol II reviewed one of my tracks from an EP I put out and it's one of the coolest things that's happened to me as an artist.

How's your Memorial weekend going /mu/? Are you thankful for the ones who fought, and died for you to enjoy the freedoms that you have? What are you listening to?

Lost albums?
You know, albums with no fisic or digital format whatsoever.

The earliest Boards of Canada stuff (although Scaruffi has some of it), Christ's first two albums. The first GYBE release. DJ Pinky's Deadly Friendz LP. All of Black Shop Records releases from Memphis (I think that's what it is called), and Imwusi (from MOTU)'s debut LP to name a few are probably lost forever.
>>
There was going to be a US-only Led Zeppelin greatest hits album in the early-70s, and despite being cancelled at the band's request a few copies were pressed.

So I was wondering why isn't there a seperate music listeners and musicians board? Or more like, why isn't there a musicians board on 4chan?

Because this site has enough poorly trafficked boards and if you want an enthusiast forum there are better options already available.

tfw you will never have a good discussion of 20th century classical music on /mu/

tfw the hours you spend talking to 18 year olds will never pay off

tfw you'd be better off having shitty taste and more productive

False, I would say some are on par.

THIS

Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven are all you really need when it comes to classical. Everyone else is secondary.

Does anyone actually care about music videos?

if they are good. i give zero fucks about Mac Demarco, but this video is beautiful

occasionally, yes. most of the time, no. that about sums up how it is for me
>>
Music videos are important for establishing context for a band's music. It gives the viewer a greater depth in how the band chooses to present itself, and the fact that it is visual media paired with audio media, it gives the brain a greater variety of stimuli to latch onto, creating an impression that lasts much longer and is much more vivid in the mind than audio alone.

I can't tell you how many times I've hated a band's music, only later to look up a video and to have the entire package click in a way that the solitary song or album did not, leading me to relisten to that band's work with a different, more positive perspective.

Live videos work the same way. It's hard to say you have truly gotten a solid perspective of a band without seeing them in performance. Be it in-person or on YouTube.
