Does metal culture still exist, /mu/?
Yes, sadly
What would nerds who never leave their moms basements know about culture
>>65022667
This is why I'm asking.
So, why do you still try to discuss music here?

This is my 2nd year as /mu/tant and I'm at a point where stuff that seemed obscure to me about 1 year ago feels like pop music (not necessarily in a bad way). I want to listen to something that is exciting and new to me, something that I don't "get" on the first listen. So please, recommend me obscure music. Also it shouldn't be something that focuses on repetition so most drone stuff is a no go. Besides that I had my (rather short) Black Metal phase about a year ago, Black Metal isn't necessarily a no go but if you recommend me Black Metal it should be something that doesn't focus on being abrasive in terms of vocals but rather on being abrasive/complex in terms of instrumentation. No vocals at all preferably even though some people wouldn't call it Black Metal at that point. I'm already exploring classical music on my own so that's not something that I'm looking for in this thread.
Currently I'm really in the mood for experimental rock with some jazz influences or maybe some rock in opposition but besides the things mentioned above I'm pretty much open for anything.

Just listened to one minute of the opening track. So far I think it's good music but it isn't really obscure to me. Thanks anyway, definitely something I'll listen to.
>GP isn't Death Grips best album
It isn't.

Not particularly, it's alright
One of those bands who debuted with a classic album, and progressively got worse each album after that.
Is there any racially integrated music scene? Or, for that matter, any instance of someone contributing significantly to a genre that isn't associated with their race, and actually influencing people of the 'original' race and fitting into that canon, rather than being niche or associated with a subgenre?
>>65021468
Eminem and Jimi Hendrix spring to mind

Bad Brains

Beastie Boys
Bad Brains
Any slow tempo but aggressive songs. I would say "Metal" but the example I'm gonna give would be more like prog nu metal if anything and I know better than to call nu metal, "metal".
Something like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhE1dwb2mzk
slow, genuine, simple, hard songs. I know everyone loves to shit on Mudvayne but they definitely put some effort into at least a couple songs. It's such a niche request I understand if nothing comes up but this is a good platform to find new music and I need more like this song.
Supertouch
Any post hardcore band

Supertouch might be worth looking further into. Didn't really find anything good while searching "post hardcore", might take more digging than is worth it.
How is my taste /mu/?
