Thoughts on the use of bitch, hoe or thot in rap music?

I listen to it for the beat or if they got a nice flow, but my gf is more lyrics type and i think its been making her uncomfortable when I listen to it in the car. She likes rap, but i can tell its with a grain of salt.

I mean, for guys it's nigga & fuckboy. And nigga as well as bitch can be endearing, even the female rappers say this.

Both sides do it to eachother, I think it's just the nature of hip hop

but now i cant even listen to my music without feeling some guilt whenever a rapper mentions a girl.

There are a lot of rappers who stay away from that; examples being ATCQ and Aesop Rock.

You could also listen to instrumental hip-hop.

nobody actually cares. some people on the internet will pretend to care, but no one really does
>>
well it''s not like other genres don't have lyrics that degrade women

many rock songs for example

bitch/nigga are mostly used as terms of endearment in rap songs like you said.

embarrassing shit you listened to when you were younger?

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta

wow, how I could I live with myself knowing how cringe my musical taste was all those years ago.

I was a true believer in ska punk. Not really embarrassed anymore, but yeah I know

Can somebody recommend me some black metal that isn't either so lo-fi it's completely indecipherable or that shit that's all slick, overproduced, melodic, and symphonic.

For instance I listened to a number of Demo/EP's from this small French black metal scene (can't remember what it is known as) and most of them sounded like they were recorded with shopping carts, plus the musicianship was questionable.

In my opinion, shit like Dissection reminds me too much shit like Dragonforce with their corny ass melodies and sleek mastering. And Emperor goes a little bit over the top with the synthesizers and shit (still solid though).

Also, that folk shit with acoustic portions is some of the gayest shit I've ever heard.

Burzum is way too directionless and self-indulgent.

I really liked the debut Mayhem full length and those three famous Darkthrone albums. I also like another group called Arckanum's debut.

where should I go from here? Should I just give up on the genre?

Have you checked out Isengard or Ulver?

I was in the same position as you and they seemed to make something click in my head.
They both tend to have a more grounded feel to them and incorporate some elements of folk.
Isengard is the solo project of Fenriz.

Check out Hostmorke and Vinterskugge by Isengard and Bergtatt by Ulver

My impression reading people argue forever is they're good if that's all you're willing to pay for, but if you're gonna drop decent money for headphones you should save up for the $200 range and not need to buy more later. The MSR7s have been broadly well received in that range for "portable" headphones, and I am of the opinion that if you're not taking them out of the house you should be buying a sound system instead anyway.

You're just a person that has tastes and likes the sounds and vibes of some things more than others. It's honestly a waste of time to define your listening through the filter of made up nonsense that /mu/ fucking puts on everything.
>>

>animals than DSOTM

That's just good taste.

Coming down off the nova somewhere near the boiled egg that is the Royal Albert Hall, we watch Paul's sun crossed with John's star and hold ice cream hands. Someone slipped on a cassette as the one you wanted left with someone else but somehow it was cool because as the music filled the shadows, you heard a sound that was a million miles away from fakery and a step away from your heart.

Just like it always did, this sound puts the swagger back into your step, the rush into your blood, but somehow, and I don't know how, they had become deeper, wider, soulful, better at their craft, inspired by so many things like a world that is tilting who knows where and the applause they always knew was theirs but waited so impatiently to receive. Words cut you from all angles, backed up by a monumental sound that rises high, high and high to crash against your rocks and then changes, majestically and magically to soothe the wounds inside.

As you are dragged inside on this trip abandon, you hear a council estate singing its heart out, you hear the clink of loose change that is never enough to buy what you need, boredom and poverty, hours spent with a burnt out guitar, dirty pubs and cracked up pavements, violence and Iove, all rolled into one, and now all this.

At the end you flip over and start again because now you are not isolated. They have gone to work so that you can go home. High above the day turns pink and you feel your feet lift above the ground as new roads open up in front of you. In this town the jury is always rigged but the people know. They always know the truth. Believe. Belief. Beyond. Their morning glory.

let's just say that if any band released that as their first album nobody would ever have heard it.

in fact it never would have been given a record deal, been recorded, and been distributed in the first place.

keeping seasoned established artists around lowers the fucking bar shamefully. anyone else hear pink floyd's last album? never deserved to make money.

it sure isn't My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts
