Serious question. How do you guys actually listen to stuff like death metal? I mean I can understand people developing a liking for noise but how would listening to some guy scream for 60 mins with blast beats in the background sound pleasing, let alone comfortable? Even listening to milder stuff (e.g deafheaven) hurt my ears, the guy screaming doesn't make sense.
It takes time to get used to it. I hated death metal when I was younger, "it's just a guy scremmin lol its just shit" etc., but with time I found stuff to enjoy in it. Kind of hard to explain, but I'm more of a fan of grindcore than death metal overall. I find Napalm Death, early Carcass and Insect Warfare great for studying to.
ever treid Duying Fetus -Reign Supreme? Its good to get into it. Blastbeats are for atmosphere, I dont like it if they are dominating, and if percussion is loud, it should be good it should be varied.
Do any of you agree with me that nowadays blokes are making the most boring music. Since theres no enemy anymore, and everything has its own niche in music nowadays, basically any kind of aggression/intensity on a male artist record is fake and working an angle. women still have stuff to write songs about with the rise of pop culture feminism, but men (especially white men) havent had anything particularly interesting to contribute lyrically in a long time. its all the same topics and different ways to express the same point discuss

I'm not that serious about how I listen to music I guess? I have some full albums I love, but then there's plenty of shit that's worth getting the singles or just the songs I like, especially artists with huge discogs where I just don't have the time to fall in love with it all.

What is this 2deep4u postrock atonal bullshit? GYBE are like Pink Floyd if every single album were Ummagumma. Post rock sounded like a great concept - standard rock instruments used to make non-rock, non-popular music. It's just too bad most of it is indistinguishable from dark ambient snoozefests. Not enough actual music like the works of And So I Watch You from Afar.

I'm just getting into this kind of music. Can you recommend me some bands that sound like Pennywise, Offspring on Smash, blink 182 on Dude Ranch and Enema of the State? Preferably bands that play faster and more aggressive songs. I'm also checking out Bad Religion - Suffer, and can trace this sound as far back as the band 7 Seconds.
