This is going to be our second album. Our first album got recorded at this one studio, and the reason why he wanted us to do it self-produced because the guy took over a year to mix and master the songs because he was supposed to do it for "free". We paid the guy for the studio sessions but the mixing and mastering was free. Ended up getting the stems and we're getting another guy to do the mix and master.

I've tried telling him that a good producer is going to help us achieve our sound rather than pin us down, but a bad experience he had with a previous producer in his old solo act made him think this way now.

He's actually really delusional and thinks that we can fix everything in the mix and master. Regardless of how shitty the original recording is. To give you an idea, he thinks we'll be fine using around 3 mics for the drums.
