I personally like the M6s. They're the kind of headphones that were designed to be worn wrapped around your ear. I prefer that orientation because the cord tucks nicely behind my glasses.

It comes packaged with 2 sets of headphone cords. I personally use the one with inline controls, not for convenience, but because the headphone jack on my laptop is fucked up and I find that any time I wear any kind of headphones without inline controls that tracks not only randomly pause but also skip.
But if you don't have that problem just use whichever one works best. The one with inline controls has a volume slider that is independent from and doesn't change the volume of your computer or phone, or at least not when I used it.

shoegaze is more specific than dream pop. It's generally more guitar-driven and has a larger focus on the texture or wall of sound created by the guitar(s).
Beach House for example, are dream pop but not shoegaze. Heavier shoegaze bands such as Astrobrite are certainly not dream pop.
Souvlaki meets somewhere in the middle. It's both.
