Thoughts on this album?

IMO it's the band's best album. It's got practically no filler for a double album and is surprisingly varied.

What era are you defining as modern day? Strictly speaking, Neu's first album was produced in the modern era. Do you mean contemporary stuff, present day? Do you mean the 90s? The post-rock scene of the 90s? The current post-rock scene? Metal from the 90s? What the fuck are you talking about man?

im not a big Manchester orchestra fan
but theyre stuck in that weird alt rock/90s influence limbo with bands like silver sun pickups
so theyre not that "relevant" as far as buzz band status goes

Theyre ok and it would be cool if they had success as big as bands like Imagine Dragons I suppose. But that probably wont happen unless they wrote a real catchy pop song again like "ive got friends in all the right places"

I wouldnt mind hearing people's thoughts on New Zealand band/UMO Ruban Nielson's former band "The Mint Chicks"

I have never listened to them and I've heard that their debut album is great. I've never brought myself to really get into them. Are they worth listening to?
17 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Their first album is a UK pop classic. I'd say listen to it. It's summery guitar pop with some dance elements.

Second Coming is mostly a 70s ripoff riff fest.
>>
The first album is easily one of the best rock albums of all time. Every song on there is fucking classic. Their early singles are also really fine, especially Sally Cinnamon and Elephant Stone. The Second coming should however be avoided

> Black metal and torture go way back. Swedish duo Abruptum are rumoured to have recorded during bouts of self-inflicted mutilation to create an aura of agony, Nattramn of the DSBM band Silencer allegedly cut off his own hands for a similar reason. And that isn’t even mentioning Mayhem’s Dead, who delighted in bringing all kinds of sinister devices on stage to cut himself to shreds with. But never has the link between the two been as apparent as on the aptly titled ‘Torture’, an anonymous side project demo from the infamous Les Légions Noires. You’ve heard of snuff movies, well this is snuff music: a recording of some unfortunate soul being tortured to death.

The authenticity of this is of course hard to know. The collective who apparently once recorded with the microphone shoved up the anus of a dead rat and lived communally in an ancient French castle don’t seem like the kind to fake things, but when music is shrouded in so much mystery it becomes hard to distinguish between fact and myth.

We hear cackles of sadistic laughter from the presumably corpsepaint clad torturer and a variety of screeches, squelches, groans, moans and even the revving of power tools. Listen to this in a dark room and you are sure to be scared witless.
Did I mention that this guy is so wicked, so purely evil that he enjoys accompanying torture sessions with noodling on his cheap keyboard? These ambient passages are just like the rest of the album, difficult to take seriously but at the same time possessing genuine lo-fi creepiness reminiscent of Moëvöt.

This is a release full of morbid curiosity and mystery, The Residents and The Gerogerigegege working together probably couldn’t concoct something so bizarre. And for that reason alone ‘Torture’ deserves some merit.

So Im just wondering what you guy think of Lady Gaga. I know it may be funny to post a shitty comment- by all means do it, however im just trying to get an idea of the general reaction for psychology

And this is why I love you guys. Also, anyone hear about the new Gero album?

So I finished listening to the entire Beatles' solo album discography and here I rank 25 of the solo albums released by The Beatles in one list.

Funnily enough, George Harrison started out strongly but his following albums are shit and kinda forgettable until Cloud 9 imo. Paul has such a vast discography, and while most of it is pleasant, it is also forgettable that you just breeze through the albums and forget that you listened to music, or something like that. John Lennon has some strong tracks interspersed through a bunch of shit, so you kinda have to listen through the shitty songs for those gems. Ringo is a combination of Paul and George, in which many songs are somewhat pleasant enough but they lose their fun quality that it becomes a chore to continue to listen to them.

All in all, All Things Must Pass is definitely the one album you can't miss post-Beatles. Feel free to agree or disagree.

>1. All Things Must Pass
>2. Ram
>3. Off The Ground
>4. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
>5. Cloud 9
>6. Ringo
>7. London Town
