Saw an awesome thread on /tv/ that I assume got deleted because of off topic.

Hell yeah

let's dispel once and for all with this fiction that The Avalanches don't know what they're doing. They know exactly what they're doing.

>tfw everyone wants SILY 2.0
They can't pioneer an entire genre twice, guys.

SILY pioneered exactly nothing even if it was good.

First half of the album is godly for walking and driving around at night. Second half is good for that as well, but also for meditating in a dark room.

Phil is just such a lyrical juvenille though. He has an impressive vocal range and Dime was the very best riffer/shredder... Vinnie drummed well, rex grooved well. I still feel like they are really the state of the art metal-wise. But dem lyrics, yikes
>>
>>65427744
this
every once in a while he has his moments lyrically, but overall you might as well pretend he yelling random shit to show off his vocal capabilities

It's an attempt at making music; made by people who, without the internet, would never have made music in the first place.

Even though Vaporwave is kind of a joke genre, pervaded by 9gag memes about A E S T H E T I C and post-post-post irony, I feel like it has an "accidental stroke of genius" feel to it at times.

Like, when they slowed down that Diana Ross song and put it along with Windows 95 imagery, somehow it all "clicked" perfectly, creating a feeling of childhood nostalgia along with a strange feeling of being in a neon Japanese mall and drowning in their mall fountain.

This is despite the fact that diana's song was recorded before Win95 even came out. And despite the fact that the song, when it was recordedat its "normal" speed, doesn't seem to have any Jap-like or mystical feel to it. Know what I'm saying?

It's like how The Beatles accidentally sped up the piano in "In My Life", giving it a posh/baroque feel that worked very well (even though that wasn't their intention when they recorded it at the normal speed).

The music also perfectly captures the nostalgia, warmth, and slight eeriness of older technology. You know that ending of 420 with the stuttering music? To me, that captures the feel of a 90s computer powering down or glitching out, and the slight disturbance or uncanny valley we felt as kids, seeing the normal-looking visuals of the DOS game we were playing abruptly freezing up, crashing, and being flipped into a weird-color nightmare.
>>
its IRONIC dude I guess you just dont ~get~ it like us 90s kids

what's the least repetitive musician you know? for some reason all music i know is repetitive. for most of a song you can guess what's going to be the next sound. it's really shitty. i'm sure someone could make a great set of songs without being repetitive but musicians seem to be lazy/dumb/unmotivated as heck

Realistically, free jazz is the least repetitive.
