William Shatner built a concept album around Bowie's Space Oddity character "Major Tom".
Covers following a space theme and concerning Major Tom, and his orbital journey.
A minor masterpiece as only someone like Shatner can deliver. There's a "Major Tom" film in the works. Who would play the spaceman and could he sing the songs?

What he's doing with his snapchat n shit is actually genius. He's definitely a very self-aware guy and he's using this to make a lot of money. He seems like a pretty genuine and funny dude no matter how bad his music might be, although it's just extra promotion for his image so he's probably not taking it too seriously
Simple question: How the fuck does one discover new outsider music artists, when these are artists who fundamentally exist outside of the mainstream music scene?
Obviously there's the Wikipedia page to get someone started, but that can only take you so far. One of the defining elements of outsider music is precisely that it is "outside" and exclusionary, so from the outset anyone who is looking to catalog the weirdest arranged sounds that have been recorded already is facing a very difficult challenge. For some reason I decided to try to take this challenge and not only get into the classics of outsider music, but to actually "discover" obscure shit from the darkest corners of the music world.
Are there any people on here who have advice for finding outsider stuff, or is my only hope to slog through tons of unrelated shit on Google or the archives in the hopes of finding a handful of gems?

Hi, So, fourth and last ( probably ) chapter of my research.
In order to learn turkish I'm interested in discovering music from turkey, so I'm looking at good bands or songwriters from there.
Pretty much any genre, maybe not rap or electronic music.. ( still curious )
But if it is sounding like [Oxbow, Enablers, Daughters, The locust, Blonde redhead, radiohead, The Paper Chase, Arcade fire, Beirut, Other lives, parenthetical Girls, MONO, Black heart procession, Sigur ros, Silver Mt Zion, troy von balthazar] It can't be bad.
So yes, anywhere near Rock/experimental/post/profressive/ or metal music and kuddos if they're with turkish lyrics in it.
Posted this thread three times already, and everytime I got a few nice results, which is why I'm pushing it a little bit further today. For instance I'm digging NEM, Baris Manco, seza kirgiz and Gevende. And I didn't listen to all of it yet.
And while It's been very interesting, most of the answer I got were anatolian rock from the 70's, which is fine, but well not exactly my thing, if you have anything more 90's, 00's, 10's ish it's welcome :)
