My favorite album must be A Natural Disaster... Weather systems is incredibly beautiful aswell, as said by the anon above.
The best folk artist of all time

White man + accostic geetah != folk
that's not even traditional or contemporary folk

Why does it need to be either of those things?
Why does /mu/ never talk about Soul Coughing? Many of their songs were brilliant

Even some of Doughty's solo stuff is pretty good

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4EUuD4OaR4 (actually recorded by SC but his solo version is a lot better)
Yeah, I don't know why they aren't talked about much here. I like them a lot, they used to be one of my favorite bands, I don't listen to them much nowadays.
Ruby Vroom has a lot of my favorite Soul Coughing songs on it but I think Irresistible Bliss is their best album, most people would agree I think.
Their discography is perfect. Shame they didn't get along. IMO pic related is their best album.
Most underrated band ever.
Screenwriter's Blues is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
>Gone savage for teenagers with automatic weapons and boundless love
>Gone savage for teenagers who are aesthetically pleasing in other words FLYYYYYY

What old artist should I get into so I can pretend to care when they die? I'm starting with Bob Dylan who do I listen to after that?

leonard cohen

I would say the Beach Boys for any of their members whatsoever. Then, the Beatles just in case either of the remaining 2 croak. You could also get into either of their solo discographies, or their discographies with their other projects, i.e. Wings.
Can't really think of too many other artists other than them. Unless you want to give Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, or Little Richard a try.
Also, try the Smiths for Morrissey

Opinion on these guys /mu/?
Congratulations is really good. Like, really really good. I have no idea why it's so underrated.
space hippies
Their new album "MGMT" got a lot a flak but I think it's really good
wow it's fucking nothing
O - kay
I would say "maybe that is why it was so shit" but that might imply anything else daft punk did wasn't shit
What's your favorite concept albums /mu/?
> I''ve got sunshine in my stomach...
Orwellian vision dividing the human race into Dogs, Pigs or Sheep. Songs longer than should be legally allowed. Amazing guitars. Coldest trip ever put to music. All perfectly bookended by Pigs on the Wing I & II.

OP here. I'll give it a listen.
Mount Eerie, though the Lamb is a close second. Both great albums, very different, but rich with musical variety, interesting stories and excellent lyrics
Yeah, the Lamb is great.
