I'm with you on this one OP. I made a thread like this and got Beach House - Teen Dream, even then it's like barely anything like Funeral. I'd say maybe Andy Shauf, Kid A, STGSTV, Neon Golden, but they're all not in this league. Also listen to Cars and Telephones.

Why can't you just enjoy the music and think of it on its own ground instead of circlejerking the same idolization / villainization of musicians. In all my time on /mu/ i have never seen one of these, so i figured id kick one off. Feel free to share your own, share others, or just come chill and listen to some new tunes. Everbodys welcome. Listener feedback is encouraged, but lets try and keep it constructive and friendly for the most part. That being said, where all my local /mu/sicians at?
Starting it off with some hip-hop artists that are good friends of mine, and most of them are from around the same scene/trailer park, including myself. Kinda gritty and white trashy, but thats the only way we know how.

Tried this record because I'm a sheep who listens to everything P4K tells me to and love it. Recommend similar albums/artists
In Colour is a very pretty record that's very enjoyable. But there's no substance underneath. There's no real struggle or conflict in it. It's a bunch of pleasing pop tunes that don't do anything notable other than claiming to be more than they are.
OK, so recommend me something with substance. I like this album a lot, but I'm new to this genre

It's a decent jazz record but it doesn't do anything new, instead just copying the trends and tastes from 30-50 years ago (AKA the popular idea of jazz). In school, studying music, you have to write compositions in certain styles to represent that you understand them. So you have to write stuff like a short binary piece, an artsong, and maybe twelve tone stuff.
This album is Kamasi's unskilled student work at making spiritual jazz.
