This is the most experimental hip hop album. Every instrument and sample was played by a single man on a v-drum set with just his hands. The lyrics are more abstract that anything else in the genre, and the delivery is just insane.

If there is a hip hop album more experimental that this, point me to it. Remember, experimental does not mean "good" and that we are not looking for criticisms of the album.

Chance of Kanye recording new To Pimp A Butterfly-inspired tracks?

***IF YOU'RE NEW AND WOULD LIKE TO JOIN, READ THIS FIRST!***

It's the 19st of March

The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and, ideally, discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily; these people are in it to venture out of their comfort zone by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

>People aren't listening to the most socially important and artistically brilliant album released this week
>people are instead listening to something mainly to fit in with their online friends so they can keep up with the injokes
Seriously though, how fucking amazing is To Pimp A Butterfly? Anyone of any race can accept how fantastic it is in everything it attempts; its music is not necessarily modern but what it aims to do it does brilliantly. Every musical reference is done not as a pastiche but rather as an attempt to match what's been done before in quality. Lyrically the album looks at the struggles and progressions and regressions of the black community, looked at from several different viewpoints variously. Kendrick criticises where the reach for equality has gone, and wants black people to love themselves, and to end hatred throughout society rather than racism.

The only Japanese music I know is the stuff any entry-level hipster knows. I fucking love Boris, I like some Boredoms, Melt-Banana and Sigh albums too. Any recs based on those bands?
>>
>>54432748
>Boris
What kind of Boris stuff?
GREENMACHINE for stoner/sludge:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tj1bWYrZAM

Maybe High Rise for more Akuma no Uta-ish stuff
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op9PT-NrMws
You'll find that Boris are pretty western-inspired so a lot of music that sounds like theirs isn't Japanese.

>Boredoms
You probably listened to VCN. If you haven't, listen Super AE, Super Roots 7, Seadrum/House of Sun... they're a very diverse band, check out Chocolate Synthesizer if you're not afraid of going noise.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz774iTTD0Q

If you're into them for the psych, then you'll love Acid Mothers Temple.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y06hM01gel8

>Melt-Banana
Look into other noise rock acts with female vocals such as Midori, Afrirampo, 385...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsDpTrd3k-I

>Sigh
never listened to them, sadly.

Ah, the face of racism in 2015 is just glorious, isn’t it? It never talks about race. But it discredits people of colour’s contribution to culture at the very core as “not art”.

Saying this is an act of “not liking rap music” is utterly insane. This is an act of cleverly veiled, yet no less disgusting racism. I don’t think there’s ever been a petition against a white artist of any genre of music that had to face this type of bullshit criticism, where someone launched a petition to ban Caribou from a festival because they “didn’t like electronic music”. Some of it doesn’t even have words in it!*

At the same time, more and more white people feel that they’re being increasingly discriminated against because they’re white. Because being called out on one’s bullshit has become synonymous with discriminating against someone.

I really need to move to an island where there’s no internet connection. I just can’t deal with this sorta crap anymore.

* as an aside, speaking as someone who considers The College Dropout and My beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy among his favourite albums of all time, I actually didn’t like Yeezus because while the production was stellar, I feel that Kanye’s (often misogynistic) lyrics weren’t on par with what was going on musically.
