I just don't know how any album will make me feel like this one does. It's not just that it's beautiful. It's this very specific kind of beauty that I've never seen captured anywhere else.

I wouldn't go that far but yeah this album is incredible. Leonard Cohen is pretty highly rated but I still think he is underrated. People often are far too pleb to listen to him, but they also often think they are being patrician by dismissing him as a "shitty poet." Just listen to the beautiful music. It's definitely my least favorite on the album, but it really works in the context of the entire album if you're listening to it front to back. Taken by itself though, yeah, it's pretty weak.

I'm starting an alternative / experimental band (maybe like Glass Animals) and I want to play keys and vocals but I don't know what keyboard to buy.
What keyboard would I buy if what I wanted to do was mostly:
-play presets
-sample sounds and pass them through synths
-make my own patches?
I'm trying to go for a Glass animals / acid / chet faker feel. Do I get a synthesizer key or a keyboard workstation? Any recommendations past that?

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success: the Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worth of being saved.
