So what Albums would you guys on /mu/ consider modern classics? (2010-present) Primarily
I'll post some
>inb4 you first
>>65867034
not even memeing but please, you first
The Seer, Replica, Sun Bat Her, To Pimp a Butterfly, MBDTF, Carrie & Lowell all come to mind.
I don't think I'd say something that just came out this year could be considered a classic yet.

Patrician: "underrated" album that is actually the favorite of many on /mu/

What are some actual good groups/bands from the 80s?
inb4 The Smiths
>>65924975
Pixies
>>65924975
Butthole surfers
Swans
Glenn Branca
Death In June (tentatively)
Bauhaus
Minor Threat
Pic related was released in 1979
Also Swans and Steve Roach off the top of my head
Can anyone recommend some good math rock bands? I'm looking for stuff like Dazzling Killmen but I'm new to the genre so any suggestion helps.
Breadwinner's entire discography, which is like 20 minutes long
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45OJMUeXer8
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime
Good spastic entry level stuff
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kYaEN06UYM
Die Hoffnung
Not amazing but similar energy to Dazzling Killmen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_apwTGYuNyo
Shellac aren't nearly as noisy, but they're one of the peaks of math rock and noise rock. Like Drive Like Jehu, they're entry level and you've probably listened to them already. At Action Park and 1000...

Holy shit thank you. I'll make sure to check these bands out.
>>65924877
If you want bands more like Dazzling Killmen, looking at noise rock charts will probably help you out more, since most people, especially on /mu/, associate math rock with stuff more like Hella or American Football.
does anyone have a link to this???

>>65924242
I love pink eye on my leg but what does contrarian mean?
Pleb: Frontier Psychiatrist
Contrarian: Flight Tonight
Patrician: Live at Dominoes
>>65924255
plebeian: the most recognized track on the album, usually considered overrated
contrarian: the worst or least good track on the album (in this case least good)
patrician: underrated track that some people consider the best

>>65923991
Some sick EDM or stuff like Burial
Name: Ambient Keys
>>65924002
I'd say something similar to Modest Mouse
Name: Sign Cypress
How do I produce songs like him?
>>65923720
Shorten and minimize EVERYTHING
Compress and brickwall everything. If there's any dynamics squeeze them out of the track ASAP. Make sure it sounds like it's being played on shitty Apple earbuds no matter what technology is being used.
Did I mention brickwalling
