Extremely overrated album. I don't get the appeal, and I wanted to like it.

Genres.

I'm retagging all of my music and I've realized that the genre tag is often too generic or too specific to really make it useful as a sorting tool.

Do you use genres to sort music? If so, what genres do you use and how do you determine if an artist fits in a certain genre?

gorenoise

i determine if its gorenoise by how much it sounds like gorenoise
>>
>>63567348
I use genres, not style or sub-genre
>WUT???
Style:metal
Genre: Doom metal
Sub-genre: Funeral Doom metal

Anyway I used to tag by sub-genre, and when I didnt knew (or when the genre didnt had one) by genre, by style if I didnt knew the genre....
then I decided to simplify and tag it by genre, after all it what the id3 tag ask

Just bought this today with it being their only album I hadn't listened to yet and I gotta say I really don't get why everyone thinks its their worst

Its fucking solid and lives up to my DG expectations, is it because its so chaotic? If so yall are gonna hate Botomless Pit

Please explain

Why is Franz Ferdinand so underrated, /mu/?

This is a great song and a brilliant video. Films that have made millions don't have half the artistic merit of this.

that song was top of the charts when it came out

you'd know how big they used to be if you weren't either underage or american

>underrated

these words have no meaning. they were the critics darlings for years. but i guess at some point they just weren't all that. lots of flash, few good songs.

Anyone listen to this? I'm currently two tracks in, it's kind of reminescent to his last album, especially in the sense of the R&B style vocal guests. I wish it was instrumental instead, but I guess there's not much I can do there. Anyone else listen to this, care about it? I remember SBTRKT used to be talked about here fairly often, so I was surprised not to see a thread about this.

I was not aware of this wtf, listening now brb
>>
>>63567027
On the last track now (OP here). Wasn't bad, wasn't really impressive either. I find SBTRKT's best songs are the ones without guests, but he seems to feel the opposite way. It's not really an original style of music, but his instrumentals are much more enjoyable to me than listening to a d-list PBR&B singer over them. If he had someone like Frank Ocean, Weeknd, or Miguel do vocals, hell even Partynextdoor, it would make the vocal features much more interesting. Otherwise, I wish he kept it instrumental. Either way, not bad for a short 25 minute album.

can't even listen to this unless it's on good speakers, can't decide if that makes it good or not.

Anything better than the ATH Meme50s? I have a budget of $250.

Don't get the m50s they're uncomfortable as hell and have zero soundstage, I just got the DT770s and they absolutely kick their arse in terms of sound and comfort, plus they're actually cheaper, at least in the UK

I was on board with getting the DT 770s until I realized I probably would need an amp for 250 ohms, and I like to carry my headphones around with me and use them out of my house.

If I get the 32 ohm version, will the sound quality suffer?

Try Vaportrap or Future Funk artists.

Blank Banshee and Saint pepsi are good places to sample those genres since they are pretty accessible.

Here's an essentials chart for ya when you're ready.

Here's the thing about 2D. The man has some serious pipes. He has a 4 octave range and he excells in any octave. He writes brilliant songs. And his stage presence is only matched by Adolf Hitler. Seriously, watch them play Feel Good Inc at Glastonbury and then watch a video of the Nuremburg rallies. We had better thank our lucky stars 2D didn't go into politics or he would have taken over the world. But Gorillaz as a whole has a brilliant dynamic. It isn't just the 2D backup band. They all made huge creative contributions to what made Gorillaz what it is. Yes, 2D wrote Hong Kong, Amarillo, and Revolving Doors, but Murdoc Niccals wrote Murdoc Is God, Spitting Out The Demons and Empire Ants, Noodle wrote DARE, Dirty Harry, and Feel Good Inc, and Russel Hobbs wrote Clint Eastwood and Rock The House. Other bands like Nirvana for instance were not like that. Nirvana was basically just the Kurt Cobain backup band. Gorillaz is this perfect storm of legendary talent, and 2D is the face of it all, the delicious cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. He is the ambassador that allows the amazing talent of combo that is Gorillaz to be brought into our lives. He is the prism that focuses the lazer beams from the brains of Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel, and amplifies them until they are powerful enough to blow our minds out through our ear holes. Yes, he is the most incredible front man who ever lived, hands down.

2Ds good but he is no Freddie Mercury
Here's the thing about Freddie. The man had some serious pipes. He had a 4 octave range and he excelled in any octave. He wrote brilliant songs. And his stage presence was only matched by Adolf Hitler. Seriously, watch them play Radio Gaga at Live Aid and then watch a video of the Nuremburg rallies. We had better thank our lucky stars Freddie didn't go into politics or he would have taken over the world. But Queen as a whole had a brilliant dynamic. It wasn't just the Freddie Mercury backup band. They all made huge creative contributions to what made Queen what it is. Yes, Freddie wrore Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, and Bohemian Rhapsody, but Brian May wrote We Will Rock You, Save Me, and Fat Bottom Girls, John Deacon wrote I Want to Break Free, Another One Bites the Dust, and You're my Best Friend, and Roger Taylor wrote Radio Gaga and It's a Kind of Magic. Other bands like Nirvana for instance were not like that. Nirvana was basically just the Kurt Cobain backup band. Queen was this perfect storm of legendary talent, and Freddie was the face of it all, the delicious cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. He was the ambassador that allowed the amazing talent of combo that was Queen to be brought into our lives. He was the prism that focused the lazer beams from the brains of Roger, Brian, and John, and amplified them until they were powerful enough to blow our minds out through our ear holes. Yes, he was the most incredible front man who ever lived, hands down.

>How is his wife (girl in back) so cute????

Smith's ability to pick up quality women despite being a drunk mean-spirited goblin has always baffled me. I guess it's down to his intelligence and 'tude.
His wife(and bandmate) in the 80s was much cuter though.

Also, as stated in the last thread, this is the greatest boxset of all time.
